Get in the mood for some serious relaxation as we set sail to the Caribbean. A day at sea takes us to the coast of Central America, where Mayan civilization is the theme in Cozumel in Mexico, Belize City, and Santo Tomas in Guatemala. Next, it's time for a dip in the cerulean waters of Roatán in Honduras – this tiny island has the second biggest coral reef in the world – and a stroll in the lush urban park of Parque Vargas in Puerto Limón, Puerto Rico. At Colón, which sits at the mouth of the Panama Canal, you can see the workings of this famed waterway. We overnight in Cartagena, leaving plenty of time to wander the colorful streets and admire the 16th-century architecture. From here, we hop between the ABC islands: Oranjestad in Aruba, Willemstad in Curaçao, and Kralendijk, in Bonaire, a good spot to discover more about these islands’ Dutch colonial past. In Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe, learn about Creole life at the town’s museum. There’s time to explore the French-speaking side of St. Martin at Marigot, with its gingerbread-style houses, before we dock in pretty San Juan, Puerto Rico’s pastel-colored capital. Next, we sail to Basseterre in St. Kitts, gateway to Brimstone Fort National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Fort-de-France in Martinique, where sights include a statue of Napoleon’s Josephine; and Roseau, the capital of Dominica, with its easy access to beautiful national parks. St. John’s, Antigua, reveals the beautifully preserved Georgian-era dockyard used by Admiral Nelson’s ships. A spell in St. Barts allows us to see and be seen in the glamorous boutiques of Gustavia, while Tortola in the British Virgin Islands offers dazzling reef life. Two laidback days at sea return us to buzzy Fort Lauderdale, our journey’s end.

If snorkeling or diving don't appeal, soak up the sun on white-sand beaches or get lost in Mayan mysteries with a visit to the ruins of San Gervasio, once a significant site of worship of the goddess Ixchel. When hunger strikes, you can't go wrong with island favorites like tamales, shrimp tacos, and citrusy ceviche.

5 EXCURSIONS

Belize City is the largest city and former capital of Belize. Situated on the eastern coast of the country, the city is a vibrant and diverse urban center that offers a mix of cultural experiences, historical sites, and access to the natural wonders of the country. Its happy location along the Caribbean Sea adds to its appeal, promising visitors lots of fun in the sun, whether you chose to relax on one of the sandy beaches found outside the city, or explore the underwater world of the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The nearby caves and atolls are prime spots for snorkeling, diving, and marine adventures. Unsurprisingly, the region is rife with Mayan ruins, and Belize City's proximity to these significant archaeological sites allows visitors to explore the rich Maya heritage of the region. Ancient archaeological sites such as Altun Ha, Cuello, Xunantunich and Nohoch Che'en Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve are all located a short distance from the city and feature impressive pyramids and ceremonial plazas. For those who are more interested in modern day and history should stroll the city to St. John's Cathedral, built from 1812 to 1820, for a chance to see the oldest Anglican cathedral in Central America as well as Swing Bridge, an iconic drawbridge, that connects the north and south sides of the city.

Puerto Limón, Costa Rica

nov 29, 2027

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Puerto Limón, located on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, boasts a rich combination of sights, sounds and smells. Once ashore, embrace these elements as they surround you, filling your senses with the essence of this delightful port city. The growth of the coffee market prompted the Costa Rican government to search for an Atlantic port to facilitate shipping coffee to Europe and beyond. In 1871, the port of Limón was established and what was once a migrant fishermen's village of five huts grew into an important center of commerce. With the introduction of a rail service the following year between San José and the Atlantic coast, Limón became a thriving railroad and banana town.

The impressive Gatun Locks and Gatun Dam – where ships enter and exit the canal on the Caribbean side – are just six miles south of this city named for Christopher Columbus. The Zona Libre, or Free Zone, established in 1948, is the second largest free-trade zone in the world.

Oranjestad, Aruba, Aruba

dec 04, 2027

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Aruba is a long, narrow island, located just 15 miles from Venezuela's coast, with a dry and sunny climate year-round. Its distinctive beauty lies in the stark contrast between the sea and its countryside. Next to arid deserts, which host an array of wild rock formations, curiously bent divi-divi trees and cactus jungles, are magnificent beaches that shelve into transparent blue waters. Combining Dutch efficiency and Caribbean charm, Aruba has become one of the most popular playgrounds in the Caribbean, boasting sophisticated resorts and casinos.

A small island – but at 112 square miles the middle-sized of the ABCs – and generally flat, it features some of the best beaches in the Antilles, huge wildlife reserve areas and year-round sunshine. The charming beachside town of Kralendijk fits snugly into the leeward curve of the island. This capital of Bonaire features the ABC islands' signature pastel-colored buildings and old Dutch homes, reminders of the `home country.` Sights include a colorful boat harbor and fish market, historical Fort Orange, the Old Fort museum, jewelry and duty-free shops, plus a pretty main square shaded by mimosa trees and surrounded by brightly colored flowers.

Pointe-a-Pitre, French West Indies, French West Indies

dec 08, 2027

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

It's well worth getting off the beach in Point a Pitre. While the vibrant, de facto capital beckons with its long ribbons of sand and sparkling turquoise waters, it is the fascinating blend of French and Caribbean influences, evident in its charming architecture, bustling markets, and vibrant festivals that take center stage here. Stroll along the waterfront, stopping off at the Marche Couvert, where you'll find everything from fresh papaya and golden strands of saffron to locally woven fabrics and hand-crafted ornaments. Stroll along palm-lined streets, savoring French-Caribbean fusion cuisine, and feel the rhythmic pulse of the local music scene. If you're interested in French architecture, you must stop at Rue de l'Eglise to admire the bright yellow Cathedrale de St-Pierre et St-Paul. Constructed in the 19th century, the Catholic church exhibits a blend of Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles, including twin towers and intricate detailing, making it a notable landmark in the city.

Fort Louis offers a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding turquoise waters, and is an unmissable view for visitors whether it is your first or fiftieth time on the island! With its unique blend of cultures and stunning coastal beauty, Marigot remains a captivating destination for travelers seeking an authentic Caribbean experience with a touch of French sophistication.

19.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

dec 10, 2027

departure 6:00 PM

Puerto Rico's capital makes a strong impression – even before you arrive on shore. Sailing into the harbor, keep an eye out for El Morro, a 16th-century citadel and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Castillo San Cristobal, a fearsome fortress built to scare away invaders, and La Fortaleza, the impressive official residence of the Governor of Puerto Rico. Once ashore, step back in time along cobbled streets and through squares flanked by pastel-colored Spanish colonial buildings. Or take your pick of beaches – will it be the golden-sanded Isla Verde, the snorkeler-approved El Escambrón, or the laid-back Ocean Park? Just don't leave San Juan without sampling a piña colada (or two) – the tropical cocktail was invented here in the 1950s.

20.

St. Kitts (Basseterre), St Kitts And Nevis

dec 11, 2027

9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Basseterre is the compact coastal capital of the Caribbean island St. Kitts, where verdant hills and sugar-white sands meet architectural artefacts of French and British colonial rule. The town center is anchored by Independence Square – formerly Pall Mall Square – an 18th-century plaza with an ornate fountain and lush lawn, while nearby, the Georgian-inspired Circus is modeled after London's own Piccadilly. Venture just beyond the city to explore the UNESCO-listed Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, an 18th-century British-built fortress that offers sweeping views and serves as a striking reminder of the island's layered history.

21.

Fort-de-France, Martinique

dec 12, 2027

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Volcanic in origin, this overseas region of France is a tropical paradise of stunning beaches and rain-forested mountains. Known as the “isle of flowers” to the indigenous Arawak, it is today renowned for its culinary offerings and remains ever-enchanting with colonial architecture and glorious gardens. Adding to its mystic allure is the still-smoldering Mount Pelée that erupted in 1902, wiping out the capital of St. Pierre (today in Fort-de-France), often called the Pompeii of the Caribbean.

22.

Roseau, Dominica

dec 13, 2027

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Dominica is the nature lover's retreat from the rush of daily life, a fragrant tangle of rainforest that is easily explored from its capital, Roseau. The tiny volcanic island offers both golden- and black-sand beaches to loll on – Batibou is a dazzler – but it's the wild beauty of its interior that enchants. Hike through the Titou Gorge, familiar from the moviePirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, dipping into the chasm's cool waters to swim to the waterfall at its end. Climb into the mountains at Morne Diablotins National Park (one of three on the island) for the chance to catch sight of the sisserou parrot. And delve into history at Fort Shirley, scene of an important slave revolt. Snorkeling in the bubbly, volcanic waters at Champagne Reef, shopping for handcrafted gifts at the Old Market, and watching out for sperm whales – this is the only country whose waters they live in year-round.

23.

St. John`s, Antigua And Barbuda

dec 14, 2027

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

St. John's is the compact, colorful capital of twin-island nation Antigua and Barbuda and an ideal base for exploring all that the islands have to offer. Step off the ship straight into the heart of the action: wander bustling markets; admire pretty, pastel-hued buildings; and discover historic sites like the neo-Baroque St. John's Cathedral and the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, housed in the 18th-century Old Court House. Many of Antigua's beaches are within easy reach of St. John's, so take your pick. Dickenson Bay is a hit with swimmers and snorkelers for its calm, clear waters, while the powdery sands of Runaway Beach are perfect for more secluded relaxation.

24.

Gustavia, St. Barthelemy, French West Indies

dec 15, 2027

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Anchor

Island of celebrity hideaways and posh bungalows, considered by many to be the most elite and glamorous of all the Caribbean isles, St. Barts is home to 22 incredible beaches.
