From the Caribbean to the Canary Islands, this ocean-crossing voyage is the perfect blend of shore adventures and plenty of time enjoying the ship. Settle into life onboard as two relaxing sea days take us first from Fort Lauderdale to San Juan, Puerto Rico’s lively capital. Shop ’til you drop in the chic boutiques of Gustavia, St Barts, admire the historic architecture of Basseterre, St Kitts, and visit the Georgian-era dockyard where Nelson sheltered his fleet in St John’s, Antigua. Then we have five days at sea crossing the Atlantic – make the most of the spa, relax on the pool deck, and practice your moves on the pickleball courts – before we arrive in Spain. The Canary Islands are a rewarding mix of colonial-style architecture, cobbled streets, historic buildings, and striking black-sand beaches, and we have a trio of stops so you can experience it all: Santa Cruz de la Palma, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where our journey ends.

Sail into harbor and spot the sights: El Morro, a 16th-century citadel which once defended the island from attack; Castillo San Cristobal, a fearsome fortress built to scare away invaders; and La Fortaleza, impressive home of the Governor. Once ashore, step back in time along cobblestone streets and through squares flanked by beautiful pastel-colored Spanish colonial buildings. Find a shady perch in one of the cafés, bars or restaurants to watch the world go by with a piña colada – invented here in the 1950s. There are good sands to relax on, too, such asIsla Verde Beach. Browsing the art galleries on Calle del Cristo, watching the street performers on Paseo de la Princesa, birdwatching in El Yunque, the only tropical forest in US territory.

Culinary enthusiasts won't be left wanting either - savor local Canarian dishes, including the indomitable Papas Arrugadas con Mojo (small, boiled potatoes with a red or green sauce). The destination's origins date back to the 15th century when it served as a crucial stopover for explorers en route to the New World when Alonso Fernández de Lugo arrived on the island of Tenerife and conquered the indigenous Guanche kingdoms. In the region where Santa Cruz now stands, the Guanches had a settlement known as Añazo, which was later destroyed by the Spanish.
