Prepare for 10 transformative nights in Northern Europe, as we begin our adventure with two days in stylish Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. We venture to the fairytale town of Visby, on the Swedish island of Gotland, to explore medieval ruins, grand churches, and winding cobblestoned alleys, before hopping over to the colorful Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda. Then it's back to Sweden, with a visit to the 17th-century town of Karlskrona, home to the country’s largest naval base. Traveling south, we stop at Warnemünde in Germany, a seaside resort with sandy beaches and a lively promenade. We then have two days to explore the design-forward Danish capital of Copenhagen, before arriving in Oslo, where culture and nature co-exist. A day at sea brings us to our final stop, the forward-thinking Dutch capital Amsterdam.

Karlskrona, Sweden picture
Perfectly preserved naval heritage and a baroque center have earned Karlskrona UNESCO World Heritage status. Located in the middle of the Karlskrona archipelago, the city has been Sweden's most important naval base since 1680 – discover its maritime history at the Marinmuseum (the Submarine Hall is a particular highlight). Explore the grand central square, Stortorget, designed to mimic a Roman piazza with its splendid civic buildings and baroque churches, and discover Admiralty Church, one of Sweden's largest wooden examples. For a different perspective, there's a charming porcelain and car museum under one roof. Or you might just prefer to take to the pristine water: embark on a boat trip to the 17th-century Kungsholm Fortress, kayak around the closer islands, or island-hop to idyllic Hasslö – “Little Hawaii” – and Aspö, a haven for nature lovers.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

sep 17, 2028

Amsterdam, Netherlands picture
Everyone has an image of Amsterdam, for some, it's small boats gliding on the canals and locals two-wheeling on bikes to work and, as frequently, to meet friends for drinks. For others, it's gabled buildings leaning, seemingly precariously, over cobbled streets and cozy taverns illuminated by candles. Still others imagine tulips in bloom and the paintings Vermeer, Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Each vision is even more beguiling when experienced in person.
