After the famed wonders of Venice, we enjoy an overnight in Ravenna, the treasures of which were largely hidden from the world for centuries, ensuring their near-perfect preservation. Be dazzled by Roman and Byzantine mosaics of astonishing intricacy, witness fish swimming in a flooded crypt, and visit the tomb of Italy’s most famous poet, Dante. Then we enter Croatian waters, calling at the island of Korcula with its beautiful medieval center framed by pine forests and cerulean waters. Puglia is next, with a stop in Bari where you can explore its picturesque old town, try its delicious food or take a trip to see the region’s amazing trulli houses. A day at sea brings an opportunity to relax before we’re back on the sightseeing trail, with stops in Valletta, Malta’s sunny capital built by the Knights of St John in the 1500s; Trapani, the myth-steeped city on Sicily’s dramatic western coast; and Naples, with its incredible food scene. Our journey ends at Civitavecchia, your gateway to the marvels of Rome.
