Nestled along the sun-drenched Pacific coast, Santa María Huatulco enchants its nine pristine bays, golden-sand beaches, and vibrant local culture, inviting you to uncover the treasures of this Mexican paradise. Manzanillo, Mexico

jan 04, 2026

7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

5 EXCURSIONS

Manzanillo, Mexico picture
Located on Mexico's Pacific coast, Manzanillo is a small city that derives its name from the manzanilla trees that thrived, laden with poisonous tangerine-colored fruit, beside its original wharves. Searching for Chinese treasure in the Pacific during 1522, Hernán Cortés and his minions dropped anchor in the Bay of Salagua, which is located just north of Manzanillo, while looking for safe harbors and good shipbuilding sites. Shortly thereafter navigator Alvaro de Saavedra discovered the Bay of Manzanillo and christened it Santiago de la Buena, or Santiago's Bay of Good Hope. It became a principal departure point for important expeditions and twice sheltered Cortes' galleons from marauding Portuguese pirates. Over the next 300 years, the Pacific Coast's history is filled with accounts of pirates from Portugal, England, France and even Spain assaulting, looting and burning ships for their rich cargos. In recent times, the harbor has been modernized and deepened to allow access to all major shipping lines from around the world.

Baja Magdalena, Mexico

jan 08, 2026

Baja Magdalena, Mexico picture
This bay along the west coast of Mexico's Baja Sur peninsula is a giant nursery for California gray whales that travel south from Arctic waters each winter to breed and care for their newborn calves. So, sailing these waters offers one of the best opportunities in the world to see these mighty creatures feeding and socialising (it's called “Grand Central” for the 40-ton baleens). It's also the place to spot dolphins and seabirds – look out for frigate birds and brown pelicans overhead.

11.

Isla Natividad (Sightseen Only), Mexico

jan 09, 2026

Isla Natividad (Sightseen Only), Mexico picture
Located about halfway down the peninsula of Baja California, Isla Natividad, or Nativity Island, is both remote and remarkable. The island is home to a small fishing community, mainly engaged in sustainable lobster fishing. The local inhabitants have worked to preserve the island's ecosystem and maintain their traditional fishing practices, creating a harmonious balance between human activity and the environment. Join local fishermen on their boats and learn about sustainable practices while enjoying the thrill of the catch. The island's natural beauty cannot be overlooked: dramatic landscapes include rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and stunning beaches, while the surrounding waters are teeming with marine life, making it a haven for divers, snorkelers, and marine enthusiasts. Find a mask, snorkel and some fins, and explore vibrant coral reefs, encounter diverse fish species. If you're very lucky, you might even spot some whales and dolphins in the offshore waters.

12.

Ensenada, Mexico

jan 10, 2026

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Ensenada, Mexico picture
Close to the U.S. border, Ensenada offers a fun introduction to Baha California, a laid-back beach resort renowned for its Baha-Med flavors as well as fish tacos created from the catch of the day in the Mercado Negro. Stroll the seaside promenade, the Malecon, to the strains of ranchera music played by mariachi bands and, if there's time, head an hour out of town to the wineries of the Valle de Guadalupe, which open their vineyards and cellar doors for tours. Back in town, the tastings on offer are of Mexico's favorite spirit at the Tequila Room.
