This captivating 10-night cruise from Rome to Marseille visits some true gems of the Mediterranean in the ebbing light of the October sun. First, we trace the Italian coast south, calling at Sorrento, fragranced by the lemon groves, and the pastel-colored town of Amalfi, perched above the blue-green waters of the Med. Over now to Palermo in Sicily to see a dazzling array of architecture that dates back to Byzantine times and beyond. We next cross to Tunis in North Africa, where Maghreb flair meets French style, and an overnight stay brings the opportunity for a trip to explore the nearby UNESCO site of Carthage. Next, enjoy a leisurely sea day as we make our way to Barcelona, where we have another overnight so you can make the most of this buzzing city, discovering its art, architecture, shopping, and lively tapas bars, or visiting the nearby cava-producing vineyards of Penedès. Our final stop is France’s oldest city, Marseille, which combines quaint port life with modern urban bustle.
