Your exploration begins with a pleasant drive through the rugged lava fields of the Reykjanes peninsula where we will find The Blue Lagoon, seemingly in the middle of nowhere in an otherworldly landscape. The Lagoon&rsquo;s aquamarine colored water, the steam, and the lava landscape surrounding it succeed in creating a unique and memorable atmosphere. Here we will relax and enjoy this unique bathing experience. Afterwards we will return to Reykjav&iacute;k for a short city sightseeing tour. On a clear day the route offers extensive view over the city, the bay, and the mountains beyond. Our journey takes us to one of the city&rsquo;s landmark buildings, Perlan (&ldquo;The Pearl&rdquo;). The building&rsquo;s dome consists of reflecting glass panels on a hollow steel frame, surrounded by a viewing platform which extends full circle, offering splendid views over the city. We then drive through the older parts of the city, dominated by the imposing Hallgr&iacute;mskirkja Church whose tall tower is one of Reykjav&iacute;k most recognized landmarks. Moving closer to the city center, drive past the City Hall, L&aelig;kjartorg Square and Harpa Conference &amp; Concert Hall, past the famous sculpture the Sun Voyager.

This half-day excursion encompasses some of the highlights of Iceland&#39;s quaint capital city, Reykjavík, with a visit to Iceland´s most popular attraction, the incomparable Blue Lagoon.

Approximately 20 minutes&rsquo; drive from Reykjav&iacute;k&rsquo;s city center you will find this exciting, scenic natural playground which is the perfect setting for your quad bike fun. No prior ATV experience is required and the ATV&rsquo;s used are fully automatic and easy to use. Before we embark on our adventure, expert guides will give you all the safety instruction you need. Travel a route along Hafravatn Lake before arriving at the high point of our journey, the top of Hafrafell Mountain. There, take in the magnificent views over Reykjav&iacute;k and the surrounding mountains. This excursion will take you off the beaten track, from asphalt and gravel roads to mountain tracks, rocky paths and steep slopes. Bicycle along Reykjavík&#39;s Coast

Reykjav&iacute;k is not only Iceland&#39;s capital city but is also believed to be the location of the first permanent settlement in Iceland. This very informative tour takes visitors on a journey to Iceland&#39;s historical and cultural past. Our cultural tour begins with a visit to the recently renovated National Museum of Iceland. The museum is dedicated to communicating knowledge of Iceland&#39;s cultural heritage from the time of its pioneering settlement in 874 to the present day. From the National Museum we&#39;ll drive to Hallgr&iacute;mskirkja, the cathedral that dominates the Reykjav&iacute;k skyline and is one of its most recognised landmarks. Close to the cathedral is the Einar J&oacute;nsson Museum. J&oacute;nsson (1874-1954) was Iceland&#39;s first sculptor; he was a ground-breaking figure in the local art scene and has had considerable influence on the visual arts in Iceland. Before we return to the pier, we&#39;ll visit the Settlement Exhibition. It is built around archaeological remains that were excavated in central Reykjav&iacute;k. The hall and the wall fragment are now preserved at their original location as the focal point of an exhibition about life in Viking Age Reykjav&iacute;k. Computer technology is used to give an impression of what life was like during the Settlement.

Reykjavík: City of Culture

Your exploration begins with a short transfer from the pier to the old harbor of Reykjav&iacute;k. Upon arrival, gear up into suits and gloves before we head out on the small RIB boats. The boats are specially engineered to get us closer and faster to the whales and puffins. These stable and safe boats also allow us to search a bigger area, thus increasing your likelihood of viewing the whales, dolphins and birdlife. After our whale search, sail back to Reykjav&iacute;k, where you will take a ride along the shore of the city for a brief stop at the harbor side of Reykjav&iacute;k&rsquo;s landmark building, Harpa Conference and Concert Hall. After you have returned the boating equipment, board our transfer and head back to the pier and your Crystal ship. Those who wish can stay behind, if time allows, to explore the city center which is just a stone&rsquo;s throw from Reykjav&iacute;k&rsquo;s old harbor.

Iceland&rsquo;s subterranean energy is revealed from the air as we fly over Iceland&rsquo;s volcanic landscape. When you fly over one of the most active volcanic areas in Iceland, the Hellishei&eth;i plateau, you will view moss-covered lava fields stretched out to the horizon, interspersed with colorful basalt mountains, steaming hot springs and the very geothermal power plants that supply Reykjavik it&#39;s renewable energy. We will land far away from the crowds to witness the regions raw energy first-hand as well as the untouched Icelandic nature. Explore geothermal hot springs and boiling mud pots with steam rising from the earth beneath us. Finally, our flight path concludes with a flyover of Reykjav&iacute;k to give us an aerial overview of the city. Geothermal Helicopter Exploration

<div class='ewa-rteLine'>Seize the opportunity to indulge in the healing, tranquil water of the Blue Lagoon. The Lagoon has been named one of the world&rsquo;s top 25 wonders by National Geographic and has become one of the most popular attraction in Iceland in recent years.</div> <div class='ewa-rteLine'>The journey begins with a pleasant drive through Reykjav&iacute;k&rsquo;s suburbs providing glimpses of some of the city&rsquo;s landmarks. We&rsquo;ll see the Pearl, a dome-shaped glass building situated on a hill overlooking the city. As we leave Reykjavik our journey takes us through the rugged lava fields of Reykjanes peninsula where we will find the Blue Lagoon. The Blue lagoon is located in the middle of a rugged lava field, seemingly in the middle of nowhere in an otherworldly landscape. Here we will stop for approximately two and a half hours to relax and indulge in the healing waters of the Lagoon.</div> <div class='ewa-rteLine'>The Blue Lagoon owes its existence to a nearby geothermal power plant that uses geothermal seawater from a mile beneath the earth&rsquo;s surface. The water is replenished every 40 hours. The water is warm, mineral rich and is known to soothe and rejuvenate the skin. The aquamarine colour of the water, the steam and the lava landscape surrounding the Lagoon succeed in creating a unique and memorable atmosphere.</div> <div class='ewa-rteLine'>The facilities at the Blue Lagoon are excellent. The view from the hill over the old harbour and Harpa Concert Hall &amp; Conference Center worth the visit. You&#39;ll then continue your walk through part of the main shopping district, uphill to Hallgr&iacute;mskirkja Church. The church was built in 1986 and is one of the city&rsquo;s most recognizable landmarks. When possible, you will visit the inside of the church.</div> <div class='ewa-rteLine'>Finally you&rsquo;ll then walk down hill to Reykjav&iacute;k Lake Tj&ouml;rnin and the City Hall. It was around this area that the settlement of the city began. Tj&ouml;rnin is a very picturesque place. From the City Hall, you&rsquo;ll walk a short distance to Austurv&ouml;llur Square, where the Parliament building, and the quaint national cathedral stand side by side.</div>

Reykjavík City Walk

<div class='ewa-rteLine'>Your journey begins with a drive through the charming old quarter of Reykjav&iacute;k with its colourful wooden houses and narrow streets as you make your way past the University of Iceland complex and along the city pond, Tj&ouml;rnin. Eventually you will reach the old harbour where we will make a quick stop. Your next stop will be by the artwork &ldquo;&THORN;&uacute;fa&rdquo;, meaning the Tussock, which was created by artist &Oacute;l&ouml;f Nordal in 2013. The 8m-tall grassy mound was constructed out of 4500 tons of gravel and is one of the biggest artworks ever made in Iceland. It&#39;s crowned by the type of hut that&#39;s used to make har&eth;fiskur (dried fish).</div> <div class='ewa-rteLine'>Leaving the old harbour, you will head towards Hallgr&iacute;mskirkja, the church that dominates the city skyline with its imposing tower. From one famous landmark to the next, The Pearl. Perlan has a viewing deck that offers great panoramic views over Reykjavik and the surroundings.</div> <div class='ewa-rteLine'>From there, the road leads you to your last stop by Rau&eth;h&oacute;lar in Hei&eth;m&ouml;rk Nature Reserve. Ringed by dramatic mountains and perched on a narrow fjord-side spit of land, this old trading post&#39;s as remote as they come – yet boasts a trending arts scene. The route chosen may slightly differ each day depending on where the whales are hanging around, but most days you will be passing a snow-flecked mountain range called Sn&aelig;fjallastr&ouml;nd (Snow-Mountain-Coast) and the beautiful island of Vigur, a paradise for birds.

This biking adventure takes you on one of Iceland&acute;s most scenic roads, &Oacute;shl&iacute;&eth;, the old road between Bolungarv&iacute;k and Hn&iacute;fsdalur. Since 2010, the road has not been used by vehicles thanks to the new Bolungarv&iacute;k Tunnel, and it became an outdoor recreational area. The paved road gives perfect conditions to those that want to be closer to nature. You feel small under the enormous cliffs that seem to be hanging by a thread 300 - 400 meters high. Begin your adventure at the harbor, where you will meet your guide. After every guest is equipped with a bike and a helmet, we will bike towards Hn&iacute;fsdalur, where we take a short stop for a glimpse of the history of this small town. Pass the Bolungarv&iacute;k Tunnel and head on onto &Oacute;shl&iacute;&eth; road. Enjoy the incredible views over the Westfjord&acute;s largest fjord &Iacute;safj&ouml;r&eth;ur, the Sn&aelig;fjallastr&ouml;nd mountain chain, and the Hornstrandir nature reserve. Calm Fjord Kayaking

The 1-hour drive to Dynjandi takes you along some of the most beautiful fjords in the Westfjords peninsula, with spectacular landscape views, giving you a taste of the glacier carved region in this oldest part of Iceland.&nbsp; Stop at the most enchanting and historical locations before reaching Dynjandi waterfall, considered the most picturesque waterfall in Iceland. Enjoying a leisurely stop at the 100 metres tall, magnificent waterfall that cascades down a mountainside, spreading out like a bridal veil, with several smaller waterfalls below it. The small town of Ísafjörður is unique in Iceland. Its unusually well-preserved town center dates from the 19th Century and still reflects its charming history that remains alive in the many local legends and stories. Ísafjörður is known today for its cultural and artistic diversity. On the way you will visit interesting places while our guide provides you with information about the town, its history and culture. You will hear stories both of ancient and modern times. Furthermore, you will hear about the people, about their living conditions and common beliefs and culture. These can also be found for example in the elves&#39; sagas. At the end you will enjoy a visit to our community church and see the famous altar picture.

Take a walk with a local guide through the small town of Ísafjörður, where you will learn about the people, daily life, their beliefs, and culture.

Ísafjörður Walk

Vigur is a small and unique island, approximately 1.2 miles long and 1,312 feet wide. It is a green oasis in the blue waters of the &Iacute;safjar&eth;ardj&uacute;p Fjord. Countless birds nest during summer on the island, making it a bird watcher&rsquo;s paradise. The family that owns the island and live there are farmers and live off what the island gives them. After an approximately 20-minute boat ride, take a leisurely walk around the island, giving you the perfect opportunity to see an abundance of birds in their natural environment; Eider ducks nest here in great numbers. The farmer protects the nests and is rewarded with down that the ducks pluck from their own chests to shelter their eggs. Some relics of old farming methods are preserved in Vigur, including Iceland&rsquo;s oldest windmill, built in 1840 and used until 1917 for grinding imported wheat from Denmark. The houses also date back to the last century. Viktoria House was erected in Vigur in 1862, made of wood, which was pre-cut into shape in Norway. In , the house was restored by the National Museum of Iceland. The second house was erected by a young priest in 1884, an ancestor of the family living in Vigur today. Prior to heading back to &Iacute;safj&ouml;r&eth;ur, you will be served coffee and cakes in an old mid-19th century cow shed which has been restored into a welcoming reception area. &nbsp;

Just a brief boat trip away, Vigur Island is home to countless birds during the summer, making it a bird watcher&rsquo;s paradise. Enjoy a walking tour of this tiny island on this half-day adventure. &nbsp;

Vigur Island Visit

Explore the Icelandic past and present local culture, shaped by the rural way of life and harsh weather conditions. This journey takes you back in time at the fisherman´s hut. An authentic, refurbished fishing station that lies just off the Arctic circle, depicting the life of fishing crews through the ages. Attend a live music act at the artfully decorated, historic church, followed by historic accounts and folktales from the area. Enjoy sweeping views of the Snæfjallaströnd mountain chain and the sub-Arctic landscape, carved out by glaciers during the last Ice Age, whilst travelling to Tungudalur valley, a tranquil nature spot favored by the locals. Arriving at the oldest part of Ísafjörður, explore the heritage museum, showing life of the locals in the harsh times, contrasting today´s “softer” times. At the museum you get a taste of Icelandic Brennivín, dry fish and shark to complete the Westfjords experience.

Visit &Oacute;sv&ouml;r fisherman&lsquo;s hut, H&oacute;lskirkja &ldquo;the church on the hill&rdquo;, the Maritime museum, housed in one of the oldest buildings in Iceland, and make a stop in Tungudalur valley to photograph a lovely waterfall.

The small village with a population of approximately 100 people is mostly dependent on commercial fishing but agriculture and egg collection are also common. The island has been inhabited for a few centuries, although it has been difficult to estimate when exactly the first people settled there. The island is small but rich in resources and on clear days the view is magnificent. At Akureyri Airport, board your plane for a short flight to Grímsey Island. If the weather is clear, you will have great views over the tall mountains that line both sides of Eyjafjörður Fjord. Once Grímsey is in sight, you will see beautiful coves, decorated with high basalt columns and steep cliffs. Arriving in Grímsey, you will be greeted by a local guide that will take you on a walk around the island acquainting you with the history, culture and nature of the island. Here are unique conditions for bird watching as the extensive bird colonies are said to accommodate at least sixty different species, more than half of which nest on the island. After your brief guided walk, reboard your plane for the short flight back to Akureyri.

The RIB boats allow you to get closer to the whales and wildlife than any other boat can. The boats are small and fast which means we can cover a larger area as we search for wildlife. This allows for an increased chance of spotting whales, dolphins and bird life. Like all wild nature experiences, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, the potential for whale watching from Akureyri is excellent with a 95% success rate for spotting whales. Many species have been sighted here, including blue-fin, humpback, minke and sei whales. &nbsp;

Returning to Akureyri, your next stop will be the Akureyri Museum to explore its interesting exhibition on local history, followed by the Nonni Museum, in the old house of the writer J&oacute;n Sveinsson, author of numerous children&#39;s books about the Nonni and Manni brothers. After the museum visits, drive to Hl&iacute;&eth;arfjall mountain for a brief photo stop. The experience is otherworldly with incredible colours, steam that rises from the earth and the loud popping of air bubbles in the mud-pots. Close by is Dimmuborgir, a dramatic lava landscape with strange formations, columns and arches that have been the source of many folktales in Iceland. The name means &ldquo;dark fortress&rdquo;, an appropriately mystical name for this peculiar place. A short drive from Dimmuborgir is Sk&uacute;tusta&eth;ir pseudo-craters. The craters were formed by gas explosions when boiling lava flowed over the wetlands near the lake. The craters are a popular site for birdwatchers and are protected as a natural wetland conservation area. This will be our last stop on this incredibly scenic tour before we head back to Akureyri. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
