Your journey to Christchurch will take approximately 90 minutes, delivering you to the city center.

Disembark your motor coach at the Canterbury Museum for a quick comfort stop before stepping aboard an open-top, double-decker bus for a fun and informative, 45-minute city survey. Discover why Christchurch is known as the “Garden City” and considered one of the most English-styled cities outside England. You will also gain insights into Christchurch’s interesting history from its pioneering days to modern times.

As a centerpiece of your city acquaintance, you will view some of the areas affected by the earthquakes and see how Christchurch is preserving some of its iconic heritage buildings. Understand the exciting vision and plans now underway to rebuild and restore the inner city as you hear your guide’s commentary, interwoven with compelling stories and fascinating facts.

Then, spend some free time exploring at your leisure, taking the opportunity to select a restaurant or café of your choice for lunch on your own and browse the many new shops of the surrounding streets

Before rejoining your motor coach for your return journey to the pier. Along the way, you will travel up to the Port Hills, pausing briefly at the Sign of the Takahe, a former roadside inn built between 1918 and 1948 in the English-manor style.

Appreciate panoramic views of Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps, and continue your journey, making your way through Gebbies Pass and back over Banks Peninsula to reach your Crystal ship.

Important Notes:

This excursion is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. Guests should be aware that there is an approximately three-hour, round-trip drive to Christchurch; however, the fascinating sights included in this excursion are its main focus and more than compensate for the length of the journey. It is recommended that guests wear flat, comfortable shoes. The order of sights visited may vary. This excursion will operate in all weather conditions.
