A Day of Golf in Northern Ireland: Whitehead Golf Club
Crystal Cruises is proud to offer a limited number of guests a chance to play a round of golf on the parkland-style Whitehead Golf Course, rated 4.5 out of 5 stars by GolfAdvisor and renowned for its picturesque setting, with unrivalled views over land and sea. Course Specifics: 18-hole golf links. Par: 70.
Age18 & above
DurationApproximately 81/2 hours
Your exciting day begins at the pier as you board your motor coach for the one-hour journey to the course. Warm up with a bucket of practice balls, then begin your 18-hole round of golf.
Established in 1904, the course is challenging but fair, a pleasure to play for experienced and novice golfers alike. The top nine holes tend to play more like links, while the bottom nine are more parkland style, offering the best of both worlds. Meanwhile, the best of Irish landscapes is yours to enjoy. As you make your way around the course, you can see all the way across Belfast Lough to the Mourne Mountains, over the Irish Sea to Scotland and across Islandmagee, all the way up to the famous Glens of Antrim. No wonder the course is known among golfers as “a hidden gem on the beautiful Antrim coast.”
As you play through, encounter some great holes, including the 17th, one of the toughest holes on the course, requiring a well-positioned tee shot. The approach shot to an elevated green with a false front can catch even the best golfers out when determining yardage, especially on a windy day. The par 3 18th hole is a true test of skills, an inviting challenge for a golfer who is scoring well and hoping to finish strong.
Enjoy refreshments at the 9th hole and, after your round of golf, gather for lunch at the clubhouse restaurant. For your convenience, you will have access to the clubhouse changing areas, restrooms and showers.
Concluding a memorable day on the links, dissect your strategy, analyze your strokes and compare scores as you return to your Crystal ship.
Guests must be a minimum of 18 years of age in order to participate. As this excursion involves extensive walking over uneven surfaces, it is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. Guests must wear appropriate clothing such as shirts with collar and sleeves and tailored trousers. Tailored sorts and caps are permitted on the course, but not in the clubhouse. The wearing of shirts without collars, jeans, jogging suits, bathing suits, tennis shoes and boots is not permitted. Dress codes are strictly enforced. In addition to appropriate golf shoes (with rubber spikes, not steel), guests should bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and raingear. This excursion will operate in all weather (unless the course is deemed unplayable by heavy rain). Slow play is not acceptable; players are asked to give way if they are holding up the game behind. Players taking excessive time will be warned or asked to leave the links. A pull trolley will be provided for each golfer. Electric trolleys, caddies, golf carts and golf club rental are available on a limited basis with advanced notice for an additional cost to be paid directly to the course. Guests will have access to clubhouse facilities, including changing areas, restrooms and showers. If this excursion is pre-reserved, you will receive a questionnaire approximately 30 days prior to sailing asking you to provide your handicap, desired golf companions and additional details. As tee times are extremely limited and are booked as foursomes, guests and their desired golf companions are requested to book this excursion concurrently so as to maximize the chance of all desired companions obtaining the same tee time. On the day of the excursion, guests who do not request a specific foursome will be grouped with other guests. A minimum number of guests is required for this excursion to operate. This Crystal Adventures excursion MUST be pre-reserved.
