Nature’s Wonder: Acadia National Park
Discover timeless beauty and the rich natural wonders of Maine on this introductory drive through Acadia National Park including Thunder Hole and Cadillac Mountain.Price TBD
DurationApproximately 2½ hours
Air-conditioned motor coaches await adjacent to the tender landing pier for your scenic drive to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor’s most famous attraction. Your journey will begin along the Park Loop Road within this 35,000-acre preserve, most of which was donated by the Rockefeller family to the U.S. Government. As your motor coach meanders through this forested wilderness, you will observe the special carriage trails built by the Rockefellers more than 100 years ago.
Your drive will also trace the ocean’s edge before pausing at Thunder Hole where, under the right tidal conditions, ocean swells converge with a thunderous roar against granite cliffs. You may watch this phenomenon from the top of the road or take the stairs down to the water’s edge. Then, weather conditions permitting, continue up the slopes of Cadillac Mountain. From the Atlantic coast’s highest peak, you will pause for breathtaking views of the rocky coast and many offshore islets.
After leaving Acadia National Park, return to Bar Harbor and your Crystal ship.
