Take this opportunity to see the lush, green countryside around Auckland, including the rugged west coastline just 20 miles from downtown Auckland.

Travel along the motorway through the wine-growing areas of Kumeu and Huapai to Muriwai Beach. A pleasant walk will bring you to the lookout point to see the gannet bird colony below. This is one of only two mainland gannet colonies in the world. You will be very close to the birds and will be able to view their nesting and feeding routines. Don't forget your camera.

From Muriwai Beach, continue north to Haumoana Farm, a sheep and cattle farm located on the south Kaipara peninsula. The owners, Barbara & Greg Ross, welcome you to their farm of some 200 acres. Relax and enjoy the spectacle of various farm activities as trained dogs muster sheep and a skilled shearer demonstrates his talents.

Morning tea will be served in the pleasant surroundings of the farm before beginning your drive back to the ship.
