Masada & the Dead Sea
Experience one of the world’s most incredible phenomena, the Dead Sea, and visit Masada, a national Jewish shrine on this full-day excursion.
DurationApproximately 10 hours
Boarding your coach, travel through the Negev Desert before descending 3,600 feet toward the Dead Sea – the lowest point on earth, over 1,300 feet below sea level.
Before arriving at the Dead Sea, enjoy a visit to Masada, the most spectacular ancient archaeological site in Israel. Ascend by cable car to this mountaintop fortress. Explore the magnificent ancient ruins, which include King Herod’s three-tiered palace, the synagogue, the baths, the defending walls and the water cisterns. Your Masada exploration complete, enjoy lunch at a hotel overlooking the still water of the Dead Sea.
After lunch, you will have the opportunity of a lifetime: to experience the exquisite sensation of floating effortlessly upon the buoyant waters of the Dead Sea. With more salt and minerals than any other body of water in the world, the Dead Sea is claimed to be a natural health and beauty spa.
Re-boarding your coach after your swim, travel along the shores of the Dead Sea to a viewpoint of the Qumran Caves. It was here in 1947 that a Bedouin shepherd boy discovered the famous Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest known biblical manuscripts in the world.
Departing Qumran, ascend the Judean Hills, passing Jericho before traveling back to your Crystal ship.
