Amsterdam has been a great artistic center for centuries and the city is renowned for its celebrated museums. Experience one of the world’s most famous — the magnificent Rijksmuseum which houses more than 8,000 works of art inside one of the Netherlands' grandest buildings. After a short transfer from the ship, enjoy both a guided tour and some free time to browse through galleries that include perhaps the world’s best collection of Northern Renaissance paintings; Albrect Dürer, Frans Halls, Hans Holbein — all the greats are here! Stand before the Night Watch, one of Rembrandt’s most important masterworks. Soak in the quiet, tranquil beauty of Vermeer’s The Milkmaid. You should also see one of Van Gogh’s first self-portraits which he painted while in Paris.
A tour in this beautiful city would not be complete without a cruise along the city's waterways. You will float through the historic canals passing graceful merchants mansions, churches and warehouses from the 16th and 17th century. Your canal boat will drop you off as close to the ship as possible.
