EXPLORING THE TEMPLES

SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA

This morning, a colorful tuk-tuk will take you to a local pagoda where Buddhist monks will perform a water blessing ceremony, a traditional Cambodian practice to bestow positive light and energy upon you. This sets the tone for what’s to come: some of the greatest architectural marvels of the Khmer empire. Beginning at Angkor Thom, the former capital, you’ll be greeted by stone gods and demons, before visiting Baphuon, a place of worship for kings. After lunch on the banks of the Srah Srang Baray reservoir, you’ll continue to the fabled Angkor Wat, a glorious example of classical Khmer architecture, which includes the longest continuous bas-relief in the world. Return to your hotel to freshen up before a magical dinner set in the grounds of an ancient Angkor temple. You’ll be met by Khmer drummers and follow the torchlit path to the venue, where you’ll feast on Cambodian specialties and enjoy live traditional dance and music – truly a night to remember.
