With some 330 days of sun per year, Almeria is considered the driest region in Europe. Located at the foot of the Sierra Mountains and crowned by the magnificent Moorish fortress of Alcazaba, the town is both picturesque and historic. Points of interest include the Gothic-Renaissance-style Cathedral, an interesting contemporary art museum and the city itself, where street art is often on display and local cuisine is showcased in its many cafés.
