DurationApproximately 2 hours
From the pier in Bar Harbor, you will board a van for the 15-minute drive to Thunder Hole, where under the right conditions incoming waves can create a booming sound as they fill a cavern in the granite coastline. You’ll have 15 minutes to view this natural wonder before proceeding to the Otter Cliffs area of Acadia National Park. Your 90-minute walk along the trail begins here and is enhanced by your experienced guide/naturalist who will introduce you to this diverse ecosystem that lures millions of visitors each year. Topics covered include the Gulf of Maine geology, marine biology and, of course, lobsters – all the things that make up the rockbound coast. The vibrant colors and textures of this island are as captivating as they are eclectic.
You will also learn about the incredible history of the park and surrounding islands, including the enduring legacy of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and the extraordinary vision of George Dorr, known as the “Father of Acadia.”
After your fascinating visit, board your van and return to your Crystal ship.
