Age18 & above
From your Crystal ship, walk to public ferry terminal to check in at Pier 2, from where you will depart on the 45-minute ferry ride to Waiheke Island.
On arrival at Matiatia Wharf on Waiheke Island, commence your privately guided island experience, accompanied by local guide. As you make your travels, discover stunning scenery around every corner and be entertained by your guide’s commentary on the history, geography, culture, people and produce of Waiheke.
Soon you will reach Connell’s Bay Sculpture Garden, located on the eastern end of the island. Hosts John and Jo Gow’s vision is to unite art and nature by planting sweeps of native trees and creating special spaces for site-specific commissioned New Zealand sculpture.
View these awe-inspiring artworks during your guided walk. The collection currently features 25 sculptures in various mediums and a temporary sculpture installation project. Other highlights include the sculpture library and Gowshed gallery, not to mention commanding views of the Hauraki Gulf. Your leisurely, two-hour walk will take you through bush and over farmland along a path about one mile in length. Indeed, the setting for the works of art is a work of art unto itself.
Concluding your sculpture park stroll, rejoin your vehicle and head to Passage Rock Vineyard for your lunch and wine tasting. The winery’s award-winning vintages include Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Rosé, Merlot, Cabernet and a particularly delicious Syrah, considered one of the finest wines produced on Waiheke. The winery’s Reserve Syrah was awarded the silver medal in the 2016 AirNZ wine awards.
Raise a glass to an exceptionally enjoyable day of art and wine before transferring to the ferry terminal for your return cruise to Auckland.
