Auckland Bridge Climb
This incredible adventure takes you under, around, up and over the Auckland Harbor Bridge, the second-longest road bridge in New Zealand and a city icon.
DurationApproximately 2½ hours
New for 2019
After a 15-minute transfer to the bridge climb base, get briefed and suited up with your all-weather outerwear and safety gear.
Then head out on your bridge climb, which may sound strenuous, but is actually a fairly leisurely walk along the gently curved arches of the bridge, suitable for a range of ages and fitness levels. You will be clipped into a safety rail, giving you an even greater sense of security.
Your guide will take you along custom-engineered walkways and point out not only the landmarks of the Auckland skyline, but also the impressive engineering of the bridge itself, a steel box-truss construction opened in 1959. Also hear stories about Auckland and its culture, and even have a few laughs about quirky facts.
No doubt, you will be astounded by amazing perspectives on Waitemata Harbor and Auckland as you make the 1½-hour guided walk along the bridge. The most stunning panorama is enjoyed at the bridge’s summit, which stands 200 feet above the water. Another highlight is a stop at the bungy jump platform, where you might see adrenaline junkies taking the plunge.
Your own enthralling yet more conservative bridge experience drawing to a close, walk back down to base to meet your minivan for the return transfer to your Crystal ship.
