Leaving the ship by private minivan, travel over the Auckland harbor bridge to the suburb of Albany, soon reaching your awaiting helicopter.

Once aboard, allow your expert pilot to treat you to an amazing flightseeing experience, guiding the helicopter north towards Kaipara Harbor with stellar views of vineyards, orchards and forests.

Keep your eyes trained to the verdant landscape below to witness the highlight of your flight, the Gibbs Farm open-air sculpture park. Here, across the rolling hills North Auckland, it is all about scale. Gibbs Farm is located along Kaipara Harbor, the largest harbor in the Southern Hemisphere, and hosts the largest collection of large-scale outdoor sculptures in New Zealand. Its abstract and contemporary works are astounding from any view, and especially from the air.

See monumental pieces by such artists as Neil Dawson, Andy Goldsworthy and Anish Kapoor, dotted across the contours of the land like a giant’s playground.

Then fly west towards Matakana to discover another unique art destination, Sculptureum. As the name implies, Sculptureum is a museum of sculpture, and surely unlike any you have seen before. This fascinating world of food, wine and art has been created by owners Anthony and Sandra Grant, who seek to ignite the imagination and fill visitors with a sense of wonder.

Your helicopter will be landed on the grounds of Sculptureum, allowing you a chance to explore the gardens and galleries at your own pace. Discover colorful plants and imposing prehistoric rocks, and survey works made from rock, glass, wood, plaster, metal, concrete, plastic, clay, reconstituted stone and other materials. Of particular note are an enormous glass chandelier by American artist Dale Chihuly, a giant rhinoceros made of plaster, and a family of pink plastic snails.

Afterward, make your way to Sculptureum’s onsite Rothko Restaurant, where the culinary talents of head chef Jarrod McGregor are on display. Inspired by the sea and fertile lands of New Zealand, menus feature ingredients sourced from local producers and suppliers, which Rothko’s team crafts into dishes representing both the season and region.

Savor a relaxing three-course lunch matched with two wines before rejoining your helicopter for the fight south along the east coast via Puhoi and Waiwera. On landing, transfer by minivan to your Crystal ship.
