America’s Cup Sailing Adventure

Auckland is known for its connection to sailing, in particular, the America’s Cup. Auckland served as home base to Team New Zealand, the famed sailing team who won two consecutive America’s Cup challenges – the first team outside the United States to do so. We invite you to experience the exhilaration of sailing aboard an America’s Cup yacht with today’s exciting adventure.

Walk the short distance from the pier to the Viaduct Basin, where the America’s Cup yachts were formerly based. Here, you will be met by your expert crew and provided with a safety briefing before boarding one of the America’s Cup yachts built for the 1995 challenge in San Diego.

As you glide out into Auckland Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf, you will be encouraged to participate as a crew member. Winds permitting, you may reach speeds of up to 12 knots.

Having enjoyed the thrill of sailing on a true racing yacht, you have the option of visiting the Maritime Museum on the viaduct or return to your Crystal ship.
