Arriving at the facility after an approximately 30-minute transfer from the pier, learn about the Centre’s important work. Established in 1994 by ARCHELON, the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece, the foundation not only rescues and treats injured turtles, but also conducts research, develops and implements management plans and restores habitat.

The turtles treated here bear injuries resulting from accidental capture, entanglement in fishing gear, ingestion of hooks or
other objects, collision with boats and, sadly, deliberate abuse by humans. Every year, approximately 50 turtles from all over Greece are brought to the Centre for treatment. About 20,000 people, many from local schools, visit the Centre as part of outreach and educational programs.

During your visit, you will assist in the daily care of the turtles. Perhaps you will find yourself “coming out of your shell” as you
get to know the Centre’s volunteers and join your Crystal travel companions in helping support this deserving cause.
