South Coast Snorkeling, Valley Views & Sopoaga Waterfalls
Explore one of the verdant islands of Samoa from its capital city, Apia, on this full-day outing. Stroll the white sandy beaches of Aleipata, the rural villages of Upolu, and visit the Sopoaga Botanical Gardens. Enjoy a beach picnic and go for a refreshing swim and snorkel. All the while, savor the Samoan folklore served up by your friendly guides on board.
DurationApproximately 4 hours
At the pier, meet your friendly Samoan guides and board the "people movers" for your full-day exploration of Apia. Enjoy the entertaining legend and lore as told by your guides throughout the day on the vehicle.
Drive along the north coast shoreline for beautiful views, then see the remote villages of Upolu heading inland. The volcanic origins of this island gem create a dramatic setting, with craggy peaks and lush valleys of palm fronds and tropical flowers and plants. Stretch your legs atop Le Mafa Pass for a stop to get some fresh air and enjoy the views of mountains, valleys and ocean.
Continue on the descent toward the south coast, passing Afulilo Dam, Samoa's largest hydroelectric power outlet. This gravity dam was built in the 1990s to help the island generate its own power and energy, rather than being totally dependent on foreign entities.
Arrive at Aleipata beach for free time to swim and snorkel in the warm water, or simply enjoy the sun and sand. Dine alfresco on a beach picnic with refreshments.
Reboard the people mover and continue the island navigation around the south coast, then proceed inland and traverse the Le Mafa Pass and valley once more. Enjoy a guided visit to the Sopoaga Botanical Gardens, with a memorable view of the Sopoaga waterfall.
Return to the ship driving through the Palisi hills and enjoy the views of Apia on approach.
