There will be a quick stop for a photo shoot at the iconic Atomium Statue depicting an iron molecule. The world-renowned monument was erected in 1958 to celebrate the World’s Fair. Then begin a guided walking tour into the heart of the Old City and the magnificent Grand Place or Grote Markt, surrounded by opulent guildhalls. After a delicious 3-course Flemish lunch at a nearby restaurant, continue past the Town Hall and the glass-roofed St. Hubert’s Gallery, a luxury shopping arcade, to Butcher’s Street, home to many popular restaurants and cafés. Your walking tour ends at one of Brussels’ most famous sights, Manneken-Pis. This bronze statue is of a young boy whose irreverence epitomizes the spirit of Brussels.
Returning to Antwerp, your guide will lead you on a city tour through the old town area from Rubens’ House to the Market Square. Along the way, you’ll have a chance to step inside the e largest Gothic Cathedral in Belgium, the magnificent Our Lady’s Cathedral, where you can view step inside to see some of Rubens’ greatest paintings, then cap off your Antwerp visit with a short walk through medieval Vlaaikensgang (Pie alley),originally a street of shoemakers dating from 1591.
