A short transfer with your guide takes you to the Van Loon Museum, one of the few remaining examples of authentic Dutch golden age homes in Amsterdam. Built in 1672, it has been beautifully restored to its former grandeur with 17th-century portraits, period furniture, 18th-century Dutch porcelain, spectacular wall murals, a centuries-old working kitchen and a spacious manicured garden all in the center of Amsterdam. Soon after its construction t was rented by renowned Rembrandt apprentice Ferdinand Bol but passed on to different owners over the centuries until it was purchased in 1884 by the Van Loon family; their most illustrious ancestor, Willem van Loon, co-founded the Dutch East India Company. Behind the house is a beautiful garden - an oasis of quiet in the heart of the city. The garden is laid out in a formal style, and is bordered on the far side by the classical façade of the coach house. After your visit, your guide will walk you back to the coach for a brief transfer back to the ship.

Many sights are accessible from the water. With that in mind, a tour of Amsterdam would not be complete without a scenic cruise along the city's canals. Aboard a glass-topped motor launch, you will glide through the historic canals passing the elegant mansions of merchants, as well as churches and warehouses dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Your canal cruise ends at the Central Station, at walking distance from your river cruise ship. Important Notes: As this excursion involves walking over uneven and cobbled surfaces, it is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. It is recommended that guests dress in warm, layered clothing and wear flat, comfortable shoes. Guests should also bring raingear in case of inclement weather. This excursion will operate in all weather conditions.
