On the approximately 90-minute journey to Guadalest, take in striking views, passing through villages surrounded by mountainous landscapes that are some of the most beautiful of the region.

Your approach to Guadalest, or “Eagles Nest,” is dramatic as you follow the winding road and glimpse the town, set high on the hill with its freestanding bell tower standing guard over the countryside. The castle village can only be reached via a tunnel, a true delight to venture through.

Reaching the old center of Castell de Guadalest (the official name of the village), stop at Casa Orduña, a structure built after the great earthquake of 1644 that destroyed much of the town’s original buildings. During your visit, discover the picturesque architecture of the building, made of timber, plaster and stone, and encounter its four levels and attic, accessed via narrow stairways. You will find that the house is rather grand for its time, and even for the present day, with its large reception area, wine vault, kitchen, dining room, pantries, yards, horse stables and barn. The library is perhaps the house’s most interesting feature, with 1,265 volumes highlighted by a catalogue of Ancient Books (1500-1800) consisting of 589 entries.

After your Casa Orduña visit, enjoy free time to explore narrow lanes of Guadalest on your own. Then it will be time to rejoin your motor coach and return to the pier.
