East Coast Kaleidoscope
See Fujairah, the UAE east coast, on this scenic drive past local sights such as the Badiya Mosque, Masafi Pass, Friday Market and Bithna Oasis.
DurationApproximately 4-4½ hours
Board your motor coach at the pier and drive to Al Badiya Mosque. Dating back to 1446, this unassuming structure is built of mud and stone; it’s considered to be the oldest mosque in the UAE.
Continue across Dibba (a coastal area), named after the town that provides the UAE with its drinking water, with a view of the Arabian Gulf toward Masafi Pass in the Hajar Mountain range. In the Masafi Pass, visit the Friday Market, a famous and colorful roadside market that evolved from a few merchants taking advantage of the natural travel break to what is now an abundance of handmade artifacts, clothing, housewares, and fruits and vegetables. Visit the Bithna Oasis, a basin of green palms surrounded by the arid mountains. See the imposing Fort Fujairah, built in the 18th century, that still stands guard from mountain access.
