Depart the pier aboard your Jeep and venture through Arutanga, turning toward the village of Nikaupara.

Soon, you will make a stop at the well in the Vainamu district, not only a source of freshwater but also a wellspring for gossip, where the people of the island used to bring their washing and socialize. For the men, it was a sure place to find a bride.

Continue toward the inland village of Tautu, passing the ancient ceremonial sites of Are Mango and Poake o Rae. Your guide will relate the legend of Rae, a great warrior of Aitutaki.

After a drive through the plantations, head toward Pirake, the second-highest point on the island and visit the remains of a World War II bunker built by the Americans stationed here during the war.

Then, enjoy the short but exhilarating drive to Maunga Pu, the highest point on Aitutaki. Pause to appreciate stunning, 360-degree views before returning to the pier.
