Trip Insurance / Cruise Protection

 

Crystal's Cruise Protection Program not only provides reimbursement for penalties that may be assessed due to cancellations for covered reasons, but also provides medical expense reimbursement for covered accidents overseas, whereas Medicare and other private insurance policies may not. 

The information immediately below applies to travel protection purchased on or after September 1, 2019.

Highlights of the Program Benefits & Assistance Services: (PURCHASED ON OR AFTER SEPTEMBER 1, 2019)

 

i. Trip Cancellation:  Up to 100% of Trip Cost

Reimburses your prepaid, non-refundable expenses if you must cancel your voyage due to a covered reason. Maximum coverage: $100,000. Protect your trip before your final trip payment date to be eligible for pre-existing medical conditions coverage*.

ii. Trip Interruption:  Up to 100% of Trip Cost

Reimburses the unused, non-refundable portion of your voyage and the increased transportation costs to return home or to continue your journey due to a covered reason. Maximum coverage: $100,000.

iii. Emergency Medical and Dental: $50,000

Reimburses up to $2,500 per insured guest for additional accommodations and “catch-up— transportation expenses for covered delays of more than 12 hours

iv. Emergency Transportation:  $250,000

Provides benefits for medically necessary transportation to the nearest appropriate facility following a covered illness or injury during your voyage. May also cover the cost of your transportation back home following a covered illness or injury.

v. Travel Delay:  $1,000

Reimburses up to $300 per day per person for additional travel and lost prepaid expenses if your journey is delayed for a covered reason*. May also reimburse additional transportation expenses if you miss your cruise because of a covered delay.

vi. Baggage Loss/Damage: $3,000

Provides benefits for the loss, damage, or theft of baggage and personal effects.

vii. Baggage Delay: $1,000

Reimburses the reasonable additional purchase of essential items during your trip if your baggage is delayed or misdirected by a common carrier*. Receipts for emergency purchases are required.

viii. 24-Hour Hotline Help: Included

How to Enroll

For your convenience, if you (or your travel agent) has indicated you wish to enroll, the cost of the plan, which includes both insurance benefits and non-insurance features or services, is based upon your total vacation price, will be included upon your cruise invoice. Payment for this plan may not be accepted later than the final trip payment. The plan cost will be shown on your deposit receipt. Please ask your travel professional to confirm that your booking is correctly noted by our Reservations Department. Should you decide to purchase Cruise Protection, simply pay the plan cost with your final payment. Trip Cancellation benefits take effect upon receipt of Cruise Protection payment. All other benefits take effect upon departure.

Highlights of the Program Benefits & Assistance Services: (PURCHASED ON OR BEFORE AUGUST 31, 2019)

 

i. Trip Cancellation 

Helps reimburse up to $50,000 for non-refundable cancellation fees due to cancellation for covered reasons such as illness or injury of a guest, their traveling companion or either the guest or traveling companion’s family member, as well as other covered non-medical reasons affecting the guests. Please review the plan for additional details.

ii. Trip Interruption

Helps reimburse up to $50,000 for the missed prepaid land/sea arrangements and/or the cost for change fees on original airline tickets (or the cost of a new one-way airline ticket) to travel to (or return from) the trip should you need to interrupt the trip due to covered reasons such as illness or injury, as well as other covered non-medical reasons affecting the guests. iii. Travel Delay

Reimburses up to $2,500 per insured guest for additional accommodations and “catch-up— transportation expenses for covered delays of more than 12 hours

iv. Baggage / Personal Effects Protection:

Reimburses up to $3,000 per insured guest in the event of covered loss, theft or damage during the entire duration of your vacation. There is also a $1,000 Baggage Delay benefit which reimburses for the purchase of covered personal items should your bags become delayed for more than 24 hours.

v. Medical Protection:

Provides coverage up to $20,000 for an accident or up to $20,000 for sickness medical expenses incurred as a result of a covered illness or injury that first occurs during your cruise.

vi. Emergency Medical Evacuation / Return of Remains:

In the event of a medical emergency, coverage is provided for emergency medical transportation to the nearest medical facility qualified to treat your condition. In addition, the plan provides coverage for transportation of mortal remains in the event of death. Coverage is provided up to $50,000 per insured guest for Emergency Evacuation/Return of Remains expenses.

vii. 24-hr Worldwide Emergency Assistance

Provides 24/7 worldwide emergency assistance, including facilitation of cash transfers; pre-cruise health, safety and weather information; travel changes; lost luggage assistance; lost documents assistance; medical consulting and monitoring; legal, dental and medical referrals to overseas doctors or hospitals. This plan provides cancellation coverage for your trip and other insurance coverages that apply only during the covered trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life, health, home and automobile policies. If you have any questions about your current coverage, call your insurer, insurance agent or broker.

Important: This is only a brief description of the program. The policy provides limited benefits. It does NOT provide basic hospital, basic medical, or major medical insurance.
