We cross from French Polynesia to Southeast Asia on this 26-night sailing. Departing Papeete, we call first at Bora Bora, beloved by honeymooners, then tropical Pago Pago in American Samoa. Crossing the International Date Line brings us to Apia in Samoa, where you can visit the famous writer Robert Louis Stevenson’s home. In Fiji, we call at Savusavu, known for its geothermal hot springs, and Lautoka, for vibrant coral reefs. French-influenced Nouméa, capital of New Caledonia, follows, and then it’s over to Australia. Here, we have two days in Cairns to discover the underwater marvels of the Great Barrier Reef, followed by a visit to Cooktown to learn about the Aboriginal Dreamtime, then Darwin to encounter enormous saltwater crocodiles. In Indonesia, on the island of Komodo, get up close to the world’s largest lizard; two days in Benoa, Bali offers plenty of time for both thrilling water sports and tranquil temple visits; and further north in Celukan Bawang, visit volcanic black-sand beaches. Relax and rejuvenate with time at sea before arriving at our final destination, sultry Singapore.

Itinerary

01.

Papeete (Tahiti), French Polynesia

jan 26, 2029

departure 7:00 PM

Fringed by emerald peaks and the turquoise waters of the South Pacific, Papeete serves as an ideal stepping stone to the wonders of the island of Tahiti. But there's plenty to do in the French Polynesian capital itself. Wander along the lively waterfront and through bustling markets to immerse yourself in the rhythms of daily Polynesian life; admire the colorful Notre Dame Cathedral, one of Papeete's last remaining examples of early colonial architecture; and pay a visit to the Robert Wan Pearl Museum for an insight into the history and cultivation of Tahitian pearls (plus the opportunity to acquire a lustrous keepsake).

02.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

jan 27, 2029

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Anchor

Bora Bora is the jewel in the crown of French Polynesia, a blissful paradise of white sands, turquoise waters, and lush, jungle-clad peaks. It's no surprise that honeymooners retreat here – the romance is palpable. Spend your time snorkeling through kaleidoscopic coral gardens in crystalline lagoons, stand-up paddleboarding amid the island's iconic overwater bungalows, exploring the rugged foothills of majestic Mount Otemanu, and soaking up the sun on secluded motus (islets).

Pago Pago, American Samoa

jan 30, 2029

10:00 AM - 7:00 PM

It's all about the welcome in the beautiful port of Pago Pago (pronounced Pango Pango), on the shores of a deep natural harbor in the shadow of jungle-cloaked Mount Pioa – more lyrically known as Rainmaker Mountain. This is a place that has long-established, valued customs and traditions, passed down the generations over many centuries, where the offer of a drink made from the kava root has been turned into a ritual, Sunday is still a day of rest, and myths, legends and a turbulent history are shared through storytelling, dance, crafts and, of course, tattoos. But the capital of American Samoa is also a modern urban center with shops and sights including the Jean P. Haydon Museum, with its displays of war canoes, jewelry made from coconut shells and seeds, and a curious exhibition about the island chain's role in the U.S. Apollo Space Missions

06.

Apia, Samoa Islands

feb 01, 2029

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Cradled along the northern shore of Upolu, picturesque Apia's thatched-roof fales blend into the emerald-hued countryside. Jagged mountains rise above deserted beaches where trade winds sigh on coconut palms. Western Samoa's friendly, carefree islanders will welcome you to their bountiful homeland and proudly show you the former home of their adopted son, Robert Louis Stevenson.

Savusavu (Vanua Levu), Fiji

feb 03, 2029

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Anchor

With over 300 islands in the archipelago, you might think you would be spoilt for choice when it comes to paradisical places in Fiji. But it is Savusavu, one of the country's smaller islands in the north that offers perhaps one of the best – aka most authentic – experiences there is. The island is the archetype of paradise: turquoise seas and palm-fringed white beaches as far as the eye can see. Unsurprisingly many of the activities involve water: whether snorkeling and diving or exploring the inside of the island by kayak on the mangroved waterways of Sekawa River. As one of the lesser visited islands in Fiji, life and culture has remained very much as it always was in Savusavu; tourism is not rife and the island is buried deep in traditional ways. Expect warm communities eager to share their folklore and everyday lives, from local villages and birdwatching hikes to visits to black pearl farms and chocolate factories.

09.

Lautoka, Fiji

feb 04, 2029

9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Lautoka, known as the `Sugar City,` is a bustling port town located on the beautiful island of Viti Levu in Fiji. As you step foot in Lautoka, you are greeted by warm tropical breezes and a vibrant atmosphere. Explore the bustling markets, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and fragrances of fresh fruits, vegetables, and handicrafts. Indulge in the rich flavors of Fijian cuisine, savoring local delicacies such as kokoda (marinated fish) and lovo (traditional underground oven-cooked feast). Discover the pristine white sandy beaches nearby, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and simply basking in the sun. Lautoka invites you to embrace the beauty of Fiji and experience the warm hospitality of its people.

Noumea, New Caledonia

feb 06, 2029

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

The vibrant capital of New Caledonia, where French elegance meets South Pacific charm in a stunning blend of soft sand beaches, diverse marine life, and a rich fusion of cultures. Having served as the South Pacific headquarters for the U.S. military during World War II, the main island of New Caledonia, called Grande Terre, has played a prominent role on the world stage. These days, the island's sunny weather and natural beauty have taken the spotlight. Noumea has a distinctly French flair with fine restaurants and designer boutiques. Off shore are the vast barrier reefs and the largest lagoon complex in the world.

Cooktown, Australia

feb 11, 2029

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Anchor

Captain James Cook made his mark on this remote spot on Queensland's Cape York peninsula when, in 1770, he ran aground in the Endeavour. With cautious consent from the local Guugu Yimithirr people, he and his crew found a safe harbor to carry out their repairs. This momentous encounter and other fascinating stories are told at the Cooktown Museum, where you can also learn about the gold rush of the 1870s, when thousands of prospectors came to pan for their fortunes. Get your green fix at the serene Botanic Gardens, established in 1878, or head out to explore the wildlife-rich rainforests, sandy dunes, and lagoons. For fishing fans, Cooktown is a world-class destination – the Endeavour River teems with barramundi, mangrove jacks, and golden snapper. Just watch out for crocodiles.

Darwin, Australia

feb 14, 2029

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Many travelers will think of Darwin as the jumping-off point for The Kimberley, the port is, of course, the gateway to the Northern Territory's famous 1,800-million-year-old red rocks, but Darwin has many other things to offer the day-tripper. Two of Australia's most spectacular National Parks (Kakadu and Litchfield) are within an easy drive of the city, so even if you don't want to get the full Kimberley experience, the ancient rock formations, lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, jumping crocodiles and breathtaking gorges give a bite-sized version of the region's natural diversity. If you prefer to stay in the city, expect a multicultural experience. Darwin is closer to Jakarta than Canberra, so local markets, cafes, and restaurants overflow with Asian influence.

Besides the world's largest lizards, other wild residents include wild boars, deer, water buffalo, cockatoos and macaques.
