Who among us doesn't miss the nostalgic era of rail travel by steam train? The Tierra del Fuego Southern Train awaits, ready to take you on a journey back in time.

This exclusively chartered train, hauled by a replica of its original steam engine, lies a short motor coach ride from our pier. The railroad boasts a fascinating past, as until 1947 it was used by the inmates of the penal settlements.

After progressing across the Pipo River, your 45-minute rail journey will cross the narrow gorge of the Canadon del Toro before pausing at reconstructed Yamanas and Shelknam Indian camps.

Complimentary soft drinks will be included for your refreshment. Soon, you will enter Tierra del Fuego National Park, a 155,673-acre preserve of varied landscapes nurturing prolific plants and wildlife.

At the conclusion of your rail journey, you will return to Ushuaia by motor coach. En route, pause at Ensenada Bay to survey far-reaching views of the Beagle Channel and beyond.

Note: Please notify your onboard Shore Excursions staff if you are traveling with family or friends, as half the group will undertake sightseeing in the sequence of train then motor coach, while the remaining guests will undertake the excursion in reverse order. Restroom facilities are not available on the train. The train is not wheelchair accessible.
