Ken Walsh is the chief White House correspondent and author of the "Presidency" column for U.S. News & World Report. He has covered the White House for 'U.S. News' since 1986 and is one of the most experienced and longest-serving journalists ever to cover the presidency. He has reported on and written about five presidents; Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, and every presidential campaign since 1984. Historian Douglas Brinkley has written of Walsh: "No journalist today covers U.S. presidential politics with the same bedrock self-assurance, analytical thought, and literary aplomb as Ken Walsh."

Walsh has won the most prestigious awards for White House-related journalism. He won the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Coverage of the Presidency in 1992, 1998, and 2009, and the Aldo Beckman Award in 1991 and 2007. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Washington Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists in 2009. He is former president of the White House Correspondents' Association. Walsh appears often on national television and radio and gives frequent speeches around the United States, and he teaches as an adjunct in the School of Communication at American University in Washington, D.C.

He is the author of five books, including Family of Freedom: Presidents and African Americans in the White House (2011), From Mount Vernon to Crawford: A History of the Presidents and Their Retreats (2005), and Air Force One: A History of the Presidents and Their Planes (2003).

A New York City native, Walsh received a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1968 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and a master's in communication in 1970 from American University in Washington, D.C. Just after graduate school, he spent nearly two years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
