Alexander B. Murphy (Eugene, OR)
Frequent lecturer and author, Alec Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree in archeology from Yale University, a law degree from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Chicago. He is past president of the Association of American Geographers and a leader in the effort to promote geographic education. His presentations help guests appreciate the nature and significance of the places where we sail.
Philip Martin (Davis, CA)
Philip Martin earned a PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California-Davis. Martin worked on labor and immigration issues for President Carter, testifies frequently before Congress, and works for UN agencies around the world. He is an expert on the global wine industry. Martin lives in Davis with his wife Cecily; his daughter is in the Peace Corps in Moldova and his son is in China.
Dr. Glenn E. Robinson (Monterey, CA)
Glenn E. Robinson is an award-winning teacher and expert on Middle East security and political issues. A professor at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and affiliated faculty member at the Center for Middle East Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, Robinson has published and lectured widely on Islamic fundamentalism, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and related challenges facing the Middle East. On three occasions he has been recognized for his outstanding teaching, twice by the Naval Postgraduate School and once by Berkeley. Robinson received his Ph.D. from Berkeley in 1992 and has been teaching at NPS since 1991. He has lived and studied in a number of countries and institutions in the Middle East, including as a Fulbright scholar at the University of Jordan, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the American University in Cairo, Yarmouk University in Jordan, and as an exchange student to Iran in 1978. He regularly advises different branches of the US Government.

Jay Wolff (Naples, FL)
Dr. Jay Wolff took his undergraduate and doctoral degrees at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. A member of the faculty of Florida Gulf Coast University's Renaissance Academy and elected a member of the British Royal Society of Health, he has published more than a hundred articles on history and culture in professional journals as well as American Heritage, Forbes, American Legacy, The Washington Post and The L.A. Times. He has been a commentator on The History Channel and is an enthusiastically received destination lecturer who brings history to life with stories of the people and events that changed the world.

Yve has performed all around the world...Japan, Canada, Spain and Italy are a few places that come to mind. Evans has played with some of the greats in jazz and cut five CDs. (All done live and in only one take the way jazz was meant to be.) Evans was educated in the United States, Japan and Europe. Evans was mentored by internationally renowned choral conductor Jester Harriston and attended the University of Califorina, Irvine, School of Fine Arts where she studied Opera and Theater. Evans' band (she calls it her Company) is comprised of some of the industry's most accomplished musicians. Each performance shows a dedication to the tradition and understanding of jazz and it's timeless repertoire. The goal is sharing the sheer joy and freedom that her music brings, or at the very least taking the audience on a musical roller coaster ride with Yve at the helm.

The relaxing and social aspects of knitting have been added on select cruises. On this sailing, Pat Kronick (Old Lyme, CT) will host knitting classes and all levels are welcome. Participants are encouraged to knit together sharing skills and advice in a congenial environment. Participation is limited.

Want to take your home movies to the next level and learn how to share them with family and friends? In five entertaining classes, learn how to shoot and edit short movies using an iPad. Improve your video and photo skills. The course is taught by professionals, but aimed at non-professionals.
Course requirements: please bring your own iPad pre-loaded with the iMovie application. If you do not already own the iMovie for iOS app, you must have iOS8 in order to download iMovie from the App Store. If you have an older version of the iMovie app, be sure to update to the current version. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Please sign up online using the Priority Check-in & Planning Center (PCPC). If you sign up on board, make sure to sign up EARLY, in the Library, as the class size is limited.

Joe Herbert (Littleton, CO)
Joe Herbert has maintained membership in the PGA for over 35 years, as well as being Life Member and Quarter Century Club member. His experience includes being a Head Golf Professional/Golf Director at exclusive country clubs in Colorado. In addition, during the spring and summer months, he is the Director of Golf Instruction at Arrowhead Golf Club (Golf Digest Top 100 golf courses) in Littleton, CO. During the winter, Joe is the Director of Golf Instruction at the beautiful Classic Golf Club in Palm Springs, CA. Joe hosted the Bob Hope golf tournament from 2006 - 2009. Joe has been honored with the 1997 nomination for PGA Teaching Professional and Junior Golf Leader as well as the 2009/2010 President’s Council Award for Outstanding Golf Instructor of Developing Golf Instruction Programs. He has been featured in 2010 Style magazine during the U.S. Open, and Boomer Golf News for his outstanding teaching abilities. Joe has signed with Southwest Airlines and Swift Air for his golf instructions and DVDs while in the air on WIFI. Recently, due to the large number of requests from his students around the world, Joe released a DVD set, Fundamentals of Golf. Joe considers teaching golf to others to be one of the highlights of his life.
