Unexpected Adventures On The Northwest Passage

On this epic journey, your Crystal Adventures staff will be on the look out for even more activities and excursions for you to enjoy. Whenever and wherever possible, Crystal’s Captain and Expedition Leaders will identify any potential additional optional Crystal Adventures opportunities to explore remote areas when weather and conditions permit. Spontaneous pursuits by helicopter, kayak, zodiac, and speed boats may be offered to enrich your Northwest Passage sailing and provide a true expedition experience. Please note that while these adventures are not port or content-specific, these “Unexpected Adventures— do require mandatory pre-reservations. From the pre-reservations record, we will create an “interest list— (waitlist) and when these opportunities occur, you will be notified onboard approximately 12 to 24 hours in advance. You will be notified by email once you have been successfully added to the waitlist/interest list.

To register for inclusion to the Unexpected Adventure actvities waitlist/interest list, please visit our Priority Check-In & Planning Center (PCPC).  Please note that the Unexpected Adventures are NOT guaranteed, available for purchase at additional cost  and cannot be confirmed in advance; in addition, it is important to note that all of the equipment and vessels used for Crystal Unexpected Adventures are not wheelchair accessible.

*Important Note/Restrictions: Crystal Unexpected Helicopter Adventures

Crystal Unexpected Adventures will be in operation during the Northwest Passage; guests may pre-register on PCPC prior to the sailing. Maximum capacity of the helicopter is five (5) guests plus one (1) pilot; duration of flight is approximately 20-30 minutes; with transfers and preparation, total excursion time is about one (1) hour. Landing of the helicopter by the pilot in certain areas may also occur so that guests can explore structures and islands by foot. It is recommended that guests dress in warm, layered clothing, as well as wear flat, comfortable shoes. As strong sun glares are expected, guests should also bring sunglasses. The order of sights viewed may vary. The operation of this program is subject to weather and terrain conditions or if Expedition Leaders feel that there is scenery or wildlife to spot or explore. Please note: guests who have pre-reserved this program but are "no shows" or who cancel before the excursions are announced, will be placed at the bottom of the existing waitlist. This program is not recommended for guests who suffer from motion sickness, vertigo, claustrophobia, or are wheelchair-bound.
**Important Note/Restrictions: Kayaks, Zodiacs, and Speed Boats

Crystal Unexpected Adventures will be in operation during the Northwest Passage; guests may pre-register on PCPC prior to the sailing. Kayaking is by double kayak; guests who do not have a partner will be assigned one. Most of these excursions may require a wet landing and/or loading from the vessel. Guests will be outside for most of this excursion and should dress appropriately in warm, layered, waterproof clothing and wear flat, comfortable hiking shoes or boots. The operation of this program is subject to weather and terrain conditions or if Expedition Leaders feel that there is scenery or wildlife to spot or explore. Please note: guests who have pre-reserved this program but are "no shows" or who cancel before the excursion(s) are announced, will be placed at the bottom of the existing waitlist. This program is not recommended for guests who suffer from motion sickness or vertigo, have difficulty walking or have physical limitations, or are wheelchair-bound. Since it is anticipated that you will get wet, any electronic devices (such as MP3 players, cell phones, cameras, etc.), as well as any valuable items must be stored in a sealable, waterproof dry bag or left onboard the ship. Any damage occurring to these items is the responsibility of the guest. Due to the potential presence and danger of polar bears and other wildlife, guests should not leave the group at any time. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
