Jim Rowe (Sabanilla, Costa Rica)
Dr. Jim Rowe holds a Ph.D. in the area of Applied Eco-Psychology and Integrated Ecology. This broad social science encompasses areas of natural ecology, human psychology and cultural history/sociology/anthropology. Jim lives in Costa Rica and Panama where he teaches university level programs in cultural anthropology and natural history with Outward Bound Costa Rica/Panama. He spends much of his free time traveling in Latin America, the Caribbean, Polynesia and the world. His passions include travel, technical rock climbing, white water kayaking, surfing, scuba diving and wakeboarding. Jim is the Executive Director of Outward Bound Costa Rica and Panama where he oversees youth programs that focus on personal and leadership development through study abroad and adventure. His presentations will help you understand the intriguing natural environment and cultures of The Caribbean Basin, Panama, Panama Canal and Costa Rica.

Dr. Jack A. Goldstone (Great Falls, VA)
Widely recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on social protest, revolutions, and global change, Jack A. Goldstone has developed global conflict forecasts for the CIA and advised leaders at the World Bank, the US State Department, the US military, the US Agency for International Development, and the White House. A prolific writer and advisor on world affairs, he has appeared on Fox News, CNBC, Voice of America, Al-Jazeera, and National Public Radio to comment on Middle East and world affairs. In 2011, he was the Richard C. Holbrooke distinguished lecturer at the American Academy in Berlin.

Professor Goldstone has written or edited 11 books on world history and international politics. His work has won awards from the MacArthur Foundation and the US Institute of Peace, and his writings have been translated into Russian, Persian, Turkish, French, Italian, Chinese, Korean, and Portuguese. A popular speaker at corporate, military, and political meetings, he has also lectured at universities in Athens, Istanbul, Ankara, Moscow, Beijing, and Seoul as well as throughout Europe and America.

Goldstone received his PhD from Harvard, and has taught at the University of California, Caltech, and Northwestern University. Currently, he is the Virginia E. and John T. Hazel, Jr. Professor of Public Policy at George Mason University and a non-resident Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution. His recent works include: Why Europe? The Rise of the West in World History, The New Population Bomb: Four Population Megatrends that will Shape the Global Future, and Revolutions: A Very Short Introduction.

Want to take your home movies to the next level? Post your mini-blockbusters or vacation videos to Facebook or YouTube? In five fun classes, learn how to shoot and edit short movies using an iPad. Improve your video and photo skills. The course is taught by professionals, but aimed at non-professionals.
Course requirements: please bring your own iPad and pre-load the iMovie application prior to boarding. If you do not already own the iMovie app for iOS, you must have iOS6 in order to purchase and download iMovie ($4.99) from the App Store. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Due to the hands-on nature of this unique program, class size is limited to 20 participants. Please sign up online using Priority Check-in & Planning Center (PCPC). If you sign up on board, make sure to sign up EARLY.
