Ken Rees (Bristol, England)
Ken Rees brings to the role of destination lecturer over 25 years experience as a world-travelling foreign correspondent. During his career, he has reported extensively from Italy, Greece, and the Middle East. His many news credits include the Lebanese civil war, the first Gulf War, the loss of the space shuttle Challenger, and the sectarian troubles of Northern Ireland. Ken has held almost every job in a television newsroom from scriptwriter, news editor, and reporter to Director of News and Current Affairs. During a 15-year career with Britain’s flagship network program, ITN’s News at Ten, he served as a Senior Foreign Correspondent and spent six years covering the United States from Washington, D.C. In 1986 the Royal Television Society named Ken as Television Reporter of the Year, their highest honor. He now works as a broadcast consultant, trains journalists for TV companies, and writes on travel and world affairs.
David Davenport (Burlingame, CA)
David Davenport is Counselor to the Director and a Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution, a prominent public policy think tank at Stanford University. From 1985-2000, he served as President of Pepperdine University during a period of dynamic growth in the University’s quality and reputation. David is a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle on politics and policy and also does regular national radio commentaries for the Salem Radio Network. Davenport has held several political appointments, most recently as a member of Governor Schwarzenegger’s California Performance Review Commission. He co-chairs Common Sense California, which is a bipartisan effort to reengage citizens and bring their common sense solutions to some of the state’s most pressing problems. He also serves on the boards of three California based corporations.
Thomas W. Lippman (Washington, D.C.)
Thomas W. Lippman is an award-winning author and journalist who has specialized in Middle East affairs and American foreign policy for 35 years. He is a former Middle East bureau chief of The Washington Post, and throughout the 1990s was a national security and diplomatic affairs correspondent for the Post. Lippman is the author of numerous magazine articles, book reviews, and op-ed columns and of six books, one of which, Arabian Knight: Colonel Bill Eddy USMC and the Rise of American Power in the Middle East, on the early history of US relations with the Arab world, received a Ben Franklin Award as the best biography of 2008. His most recent book, Saudi Arabia on the Edge, was published in 2012. A frequent commentator on domestic and international television outlets, Lippman also contributes articles on Mideast affairs to major newspapers and several online publications. He has traveled often to Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries over the past decade, and is the principal media contact on Saudi Arabia for the Middle East Institute, where he is an adjunct scholar. Lippman is also a consultant to the U.S. armed forces and intelligence agencies.
Tom Macan (Cumbria, England)
Tom Macan is a retired British Diplomatic Service Officer with extensive experience of the Caribbean, South America and the Portuguese-speaking world. His final post was that of Governor of the British Virgin Islands, having previously been Ambassador to Lithuania and Deputy High Commissioner to India.
Michael McManus (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
Special Agent Michael McManus (retired) held one of the most dangerous and most-often scrutinized jobs in the United States; he was a Drug Enforcement Administration supervisor. Mr. McManus served as the Chief of Operations for Mexico and Central America at DEA’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. He oversaw all enforcement operations throughout those regions. Mr. McManus is a career law enforcement officer with over 28 years of experience in undercover investigations and consultation.
Special Agent McManus was the supervisor of a special enforcement group in Miami, FL from 1995 – 1999. During this time, he coordinated numerous undercover investigations involving high-level international drug trafficking organizations, which included the successful investigation and arrest that inspired the movie, Blow (2001), featuring Johnny Depp.
McManus has taught extensively at international law enforcement academies across Europe, Central America, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Far East. A faculty member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) since 1996, Mike McManus’ lecture series is rated in the top 10% of all faculty members. Since that time, he has lectured at YPO conferences in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, New York, Hawaii and at a number of local chapter meetings throughout the United States.
Cheri Steinkellner (Santa Barbara, CA)
Cheri Steinkellner has won multiple Emmys, Golden Globes, People's Choice and the TV-Land Legend Award for writing/producing TV’s Cheers and creating Disney’s Teacher’s Pet. She is also a Tony nominee for Broadway's Sister Act. Cheri co-created the Indy Award-winning, Ovation-nominated Broadway-bound musical Hello! My Baby, and has worked on TV shows including The Jeffersons, Who's The Boss, Family Ties and The Bob Newhart Show. Alumni of Chicago’s Second City and L.A.'s The Groundlings, she also co-created Instaplay, L.A.’s original improvised musical. Cheri teaches writing at Stanford and UCSB.
Robert Warne (Falls Church, VA)
Rob Warne served for 28 years as a Senior Foreign Service Officer with the US Department of State. Specializing in international economics, he held a variety of senior posts at the Department and aboard. He has worked on Asian affairs much of his life and authored books and articles, and lectured frequently on the region. He will speak on the policy and economic issues relating to Africa and the Indian sub-continent, as well as on current developments in terrorism, globalization, and emerging nations.
Rob Warne was President of a Washington, D.C. based think tank focusing on East Asia. This entailed regular contacts with regional leaders, US senior officials and members of Congress and conferences on the region at many US universities cities. He was also a university professor at several universities in the region. Currently he is a program Chair at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center of the US Department of State where he has been teaching for five years. A graduate of Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School for International and Public Affairs, he received an advanced degree in economics at The Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies.

Want to take your home movies to the next level and learn how to share them with family and friends? In five entertaining classes, learn how to shoot and edit short movies using an iPad. Improve your video and photo skills. The course is taught by professionals, but aimed at non-professionals.
Course requirements: please bring your own iPad pre-loaded with the iMovie application. If you do not already own the iMovie for iOS app, you must have iOS8 in order to download iMovie from the App Store. If you have an older version of the iMovie app, be sure to update to the current version. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Please sign up online using the Priority Check-in & Planning Center (PCPC). If you sign up on board, make sure to sign up EARLY, in the Library, as the class size is limited.

Our popular Computer University@Sea program: expanded curriculum of complimentary lectures and classes on a variety of computer-related topics, plus e-mail instruction in our computer center, equipped with 25 state-of-the-art workstations, all equipped for e-mail and Internet access (fees apply).
An updated series of 'Everything Apple' courses developed and taught by Professor Stan Leja (Corpus Christi, TX) is again being offered on iPads, iTunes, iWork, iLife, and iCloud. This Apple training provides several different Continuing Education Unit (CEU) granting courses from Del Mar College designed to improve your ability to understand and to use your Apple devices. Each course will contain different in depth lectures and experimentation with various applications on both iPad devices and Apple computers. Social media, photography, music, navigation, communications, business applications, videos, and web surfing with Apple devices will all be covered during different portions of World Cruise 2015. A fee will be charged to attend these courses.
To fully participate in this coursework, you need to come onboard with the following: One iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad v4, iPad mini 3, or iPad mini 2, with the latest iOS installed that has cellular (GPS) capability. Having international cellular data activated prior to joining the world cruise is also required. The latest versions of the following applications need to be downloaded and installed on your iPad prior to joining this voyage: Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iPhoto, GarageBand, iMovie, Dropbox for iPad, GoodReader for iPad, Adobe Photoshop Express, Kindle, MotionX GPS HD, and SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive.
If you have an Apple notebook computer, please bring it with you. On your notebook computer, please make sure it has the latest version of the OS X Yosemite operating system and the latest version of the notebook applications: Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iPhoto, GarageBand, iMovie, Adobe Photoshop 13, and Kindle. If you do not have an Apple notebook computer, you can use the desktops in the CU @ Sea classroom, which will all have the updated required software.

If your family has been bugging you to “write this stuff down!” for years, here’s your chance to finally get started. Joe Kita has authored six books, written for numerous magazines, taught writing at Lehigh University, and appeared on Oprah. Joe has taught memoir writing on six previous Crystal World Cruises, and dozens of his students have published books. In this special course, you’ll learn everything from how to get started to how to find a publisher. Joe will also supply one-on-one coaching throughout the trip, reviewing and critiquing your manuscripts.

She’ll be teaching Gentle and Energetic classes, plus others with special themes (e.g., yoga for back pain, chair yoga, etc.). Maria is also a registered nurse, and she practices what she preaches. Yoga enabled her to overcome back surgery 13 years ago.

John has over 35 years experience in the Golf business and became a PGA member in July, 1972. He served his Apprenticeship under the late Tony Novitsky at Columbine Country Club, Littleton, Colorado.
