Professor David Drewry (Cottingham, England)
David Drewry has research interests in the environmental sciences, particularly geological processes and climate change as well as science policy. He has published three books and more than 90 research papers (including in Nature and Science). He has led scientific expeditions to southern Africa and the Polar regions, and has travelled extensively in the Pacific. Professor Drewry was Vice-Chancellor (President) of Hull University from 1999-2009 and is now a Board member, appointed by the Prime Minister, of the Natural History Museum in London. He was previously Director-General of the British Council, Director of Science and Technology at the UK Natural Environment Research Council, and a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. David holds a Doctorate in Geophysics from the University of Cambridge, where he is an Honorary Fellow at Emmanuel College. He holds the Unites States Antarctic Service Medal and is recipient of the Prix de la Belgica Gold Medal of the Royal Academy of Belgium and the Patron’s Gold Medal of the Royal Geographical Society. He has a mountain and a glacier named after him in Antarctica.
Dr. Yvette Sencer (Boca Raton, FL) A specialist in the history of art and architecture, Dr. Yvette Jayson Sencer was Professor and Chair of Art History and Dean of Graduate Studies at State University of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. An animated, popular speaker, passionate about art and teaching, she now presents an annual lecture series at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, and writes and speaks on many periods of art history. Active in art education worldwide, Dr. Sencer represented North America for InSEA (the International Society for Education through Art), was World Councilor for USSEA (the United States Society for Education through Art), and was President of the University Council for Art Education.
Thomas W. Lippman (Washington, D.C.)
Thomas W. Lippman is an award-winning author and journalist who has specialized in Middle East affairs and American foreign policy for 35 years. He is a former Middle East bureau chief of The Washington Post, and throughout the 1990s was a national security and diplomatic affairs correspondent for the Post. Lippman is the author of numerous magazine articles, book reviews, and op-ed columns and of five books, the most recent of which, Arabian Knight: Colonel Bill Eddy USMC and the Rise of American Power in the Middle East, on the early history of US relations with the Arab world, received a Ben Franklin award as the best biography of 2008. His new book is about the future of Saudi Arabia. A frequent commentator on cable news, Lippman has also appeared on the BBC and on PBS’s Think Tank and The Charlie Rose Show. Several of his lectures have been televised nationally by C-SPAN. As a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and an adjunct scholar at the Middle East Institute, he has traveled frequently to Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region throughout the past decade.
Seth Shostak (Mountain View, CA)
Seth is the Senior Astronomer at the SETI Institute, in Mountain View, CA, where he is part of the scientific search to find life beyond Earth. He has a varied research background, and has toiled to better understand the cosmos at observatories and universities in both the U.S. and Europe. Seth has penned over four hundred popular magazine, newspaper and web articles on various topics in astronomy, technology, film and television, and is a frequent commentator on both radio and TV about astronomical research. He hosts the weekly science radio show, Big Picture Science and his most recent book is Confessions of an Alien Hunter: A Scientist’s Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
Dr. Drew Casper (Los Angeles, CA)
Dr. Drew Casper is the first holder of The Alma and Alfred Hitchcock Chair in American Film at the University of Southern California's (USC) School of the Cinematic Arts. He received a B.A. in English and Philosophy at Fordham University, an additional M.A. in English at Fordham University, a Masters in Divinity-Jesuit Theologate at Woodstock College and a PhD in Communication Arts at USC. His undergraduate and graduate courses include those in the history of Hollywood film; genre studies (comedy, musical, horror/science-fiction/fantasy, suspense thriller, post-war melodrama), to style exegesis (film noir, Alfred Hitchcock, Vincente Minnelli, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Lucas and the Star Wars phenomenon, William Wyler, John Huston, Warner Brothers House Style, Stanley Donen, Billy Wilder, Michael Curtiz, Metro Goldwyn Mayer House Style, George Stevens). Dr. Casper’s Censorship in Cinema course includes a Question-and-Answer with course underwriter Hugh Hefner. At USC, Dr. Casper’s classes, the most popular in the school, have won for him the USC Associate Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has also given seminars at American Film Institute, Disney Studios, Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Director's Guild. His books include, The Hollywood Film, 1963-1976: Years of Revolution and Reaction, Post-War Hollywood, 1946-1962, Introduction to Film (which is in its fourth edition), Stanley Donen, and Vincente Minnelli and the Film Musical. His numerous essays have appeared in publications that run the gamut from Architectual Digest through industrial (theater/film reviews for The Hollywood Reporter) and upward to the high-cult periodical Theological Studies. A former on-air host for American Subscription television, Dr. Casper has also contributed innumerable commentaries (including Hitchcock's Notorious, To Catch A Thief, Lifeboat, Twelve Angry Men, The Dolly Sisters, The Asphalt Jungle) and documentaries for DVDs of classic and contemporary films, as well as documentaries on Doris Day and Alice Faye for A&E Biography. Dr. Casper has produced/directed/written several tribute events for the national cinema fraternity Delta Kappa Alpha,: one to Minnelli, another honoring Astaire and Donen, and a third recognizing Barbara Stanwyck. Spring 2013 saw the debut of Dr. Casper’s most recent film introduction course entitled "Incandescent Classroom in Hollywood" which was broadcast on Tokyo's NHK-TV channel. During a busy season of research and travel, he has created a captivating cinema series for Crystal Cruises entitled “Northern Lites,” a summertime tribute to some of the great stars and films of Scandinavia.
Marc Cummings (Los Angeles, CA)
Marc Cummings was a rising national tennis star when his father insisted he get any four-year degree so he would have a college education. It was then that Marc chose to go to cooking school where he was trained and certified as a Master Chef at the prestigious Cordon Bleu in Paris. He then became Executive Chef for the world renowned Club Med Resorts in Tahiti. Marc ventured into successfully opening his own restaurant, Ole' LA, in Beverly Hills and Brentwood, CA, and soon after, had his own national cable TV show, The Very Best of Everything with Marc Cummings. Currently, Marc is developing projects with the Tennis Channel and The Food Network.
Sven Erik Renaa (Stavanger, Norway)
Sven Erik Renaa is a top Norwegian chef and author who began his career at his mother's workplace, the Britannia Hotel. He worked in Oslo before moving to New York City to work for Park Avenue Café and David Burke. Relocating back to Oslo, he was a Chef at Brasseriet Hansken and Chef/Partner for the startup of Oro. Finally, after living in the Norwegian city of Stavanger since 2001 as a chef at Gastronomisk Institutt, Sven started his own Renaa Restaurant in 2008. In addition to his chef's career, he has served as a jury member for the Bocuse d'Or, has received numerous Chef of the Year awards, and has been a constant member of the Norwegian National Culinary Team during the Culinary Olympics. Sven is currently the Chef/Owner of Renaa Restaurant in the Norwegian cities of Stavanger and Trondheim.

Passport To Music presented by Yamaha and Crystal Cruises: Instructor Patsy Rabinowitz (Fairfield Township, OH) teaches an innovative and fun course as an introduction to keyboard playing for adults. Tradition and technology meet in harmony to create this progressive piano-style program. With an emphasis on hands-on learning using Yamaha's exciting portable keyboards supported by the Clavinova digital piano, guests learn nearly a dozen songs during the cruise. An overview of general musical skills, including listening skills and note reading is included, as well as fun group activities such as music trivia and name that song. Passport To Music is designed for those with little or no previous keyboard experience.

Improve your video and photo skills. The course is taught by professionals, but aimed at non-professionals.
Course requirements: please bring your own iPad and pre-load the iMovie application prior to boarding. If you do not already own the iMovie app for iOS, you must have iOS6 in order to purchase and download iMovie ($4.99) from the App Store. Once you have downloaded the iMovie app to your iPad, be sure to also download the Help files. Open the iMovie app and tap on the Help icon (it looks like a question mark). When the Help screen comes up, tap on "More Help" to download the rest of the Help files. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Due to the hands-on nature of this unique program, class size is limited to 20 participants. Please sign up online using the Priority Check-in & Planning Center (PCPC). Richard is a recognized leader in the medium of black and white photography. Bruce Murray has been a C.P.G.A. member for over 40 years serving the C.P.G.A. as a Director, as well as serving as chairman of many association portfolios. He has been a Head Professional/Director of Golf at five clubs in his career the most prominent being Royal Montréal, Shaughnessy in Vancouver and now Wildfire in Lakefield, Ontario. Bruce's responsibilities have varied within the scope of the various clubs, but teaching has been and remains his main passion. He has taught students of every level, from novices to professionals and leading amateurs. Bruce is now retired from the private club life and lives outside Halifax, Nova Scotia.
