Dr. Anthony Aveni (Hamilton, NY)
Anthony Aveni is the Russell Colgate Distinguished Professor of Astronomy and Anthropology and Native American Studies, serving appointments in both Departments of Physics & Astronomy and Sociology & Anthropology at Colgate University. Featured in Rolling Stone magazine's 1991 list of the ten best university professors in the country, Aveni was also voted 1982 National Professor of the Year by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, Washington D.C., the highest national award for teaching. He has spoken or written on astronomy-related subjects on the Learning Channel, the Discovery Channel, PBS-Nova, The New York Times, The Larry King Show, NBC's Today Show and Unsolved Mysteries.

Aveni's most recent books include Empires of Time, on the history of timekeeping; Conversing With the Planets, a work that weaves together cosmology, mythology and the anthropology of ancient cultures; Behind the Crystal Ball: Magic, Science and Religion from Antiquity through the New Age; and The Book of the Year: A Brief History of Our Seasonal Holidays. His first children's book, The First Americans: The Story of Where They Came From and Who They Became, was recently published.

Bill Miller (Secaucus, NJ)
Bill Miller is considered an international authority on the subject of ocean liners and cruise ships. This includes those great ships of the past, those "floating palaces," as well as the current generation of cruise ships, the "floating resorts." Called "Mr. Ocean Liner," he has written over 60 books on the subject - from early steamers, immigrant ships and liners at war to other titles on their fabulous interiors, in post card form and about the highly collectible artifacts from them.

Farhana Qazi (Fairfax, VA)
For nearly a decade, Farhana Ali has been the most prominent American-Muslim woman to study al-Qaeda and the conflicts in the Muslim world. She regularly travels to Kashmir and Pakistan to assess political crises and militant groups. Before 9/11, Ms. Ali was the first Muslim woman to work in the US government’s Counter-Terrorism Center, where she received several Meritorious Awards during her five years of service. She later joined the RAND Corporation as an international policy analyst, focusing on the impact of Islamist movements and security challenges in South Asia. Currently, Ali is a senior instructor on the AFPAK team, providing cultural training on Pakistan to US military officers and civilians across the US government. She is a special guest writer for Oxford Analytica. A highly sought-after lecturer, Ms. Ali appears regularly in the media, including BBC World News, Al-Jazeera English, CNN, and C-Span. Her publications have appeared in Newsweek, The Washington Post, and several academic journals. She speaks Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, and French, and is studying Arabic.

Want to take your home movies to the next level and learn how to share them with family and friends? In five entertaining classes, learn how to shoot and edit short movies using an iPad. Improve your video and photo skills. The course is taught by professionals, but aimed at non-professionals.
Course requirements: please bring your own iPad pre-loaded with the iMovie application. If you do not already own the iMovie for iOS app, you must have iOS7 in order to download iMovie from the App Store. If you have an older version of the iMovie app, be sure to update to the current version. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Please sign up online using the Priority Check-in & Planning Center (PCPC). If you sign up on board, make sure to sign up EARLY, in the Library, as the class size is limited.

Richard Dutkowski is a Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and the Master Photographers Association (MPA). He has been a successful professional photographer in the UK for over 20 years during which time his artistry has won him many prestigious awards and the title “UK Master Photographer of the Year.” He is also a Past President of the Master Photographers Association. Richard is a recognized leader in the medium of black and white photography. Portraiture has always been a passion and Richard treats each of his commissions as an opportunity to create unique portraits. Each is not only an object of beauty, but also has lasting value for generations to come. His work has often been described as priceless and his portraits now hang with pride in many homes and offices in Europe, America and Asia. With years of experience Richard is truly a 'Master' of technique, able to ‘paint’ his subjects with light and then capture their very essence and heart. Joe Herbert has maintained membership in the PGA for over 35 years, as well as being Life Member and Quarter Century Club member. His experience includes being a Head Golf Professional/Golf Director at exclusive country clubs in Colorado. In addition, during the spring and summer months, he is the Director of Golf Instruction at Arrowhead Golf Club (Golf Digest Top 100 golf courses) in Littleton, CO. During the winter, Joe is the Director of Golf Instruction at the beautiful Classic Golf Club in Palm Springs, CA. Joe hosted the Bob Hope golf tournament from 2006 - 2009. Joe has been honored with the 1997 nomination for PGA Teaching Professional and Junior Golf Leader as well as the 2009/2010 President’s Council Award for Outstanding Golf Instructor of Developing Golf Instruction Programs. He has been featured in 2010 Style magazine during the U.S. Open, and Boomer Golf News for his outstanding teaching abilities. Joe has signed with Southwest Airlines and Swift Air for his golf instructions and DVDs while in the air on WIFI. Recently, due to the large number of requests from his students around the world, Joe released a DVD set, Fundamentals of Golf. Joe considers teaching golf to others to be one of the highlights of his life.
