Destination Lecturer

Ian McDonnell (Manly, Australia)
Ian McDonnell has spent his career in the travel and tourism industry. He is extremely knowledgeable through working in the South Pacific, Australian, Asian and European regions with Qantas Airlines. He was Qantas' regional Manager in Hong Kong, Thailand, Fiji and the Pacific Island, North Queensland and Bali, Indonesia. He was also Qantas' Market Development Manager in Australia and held Airport Manager positions in Frankfurt, Germany, Perth, WA, and Port Morseby.

Ian has a Masters of Arts for a thesis on Australian Tourism to Fiji and Indonesia. Ian is active in the tourism industry in Australia and has undertaken several consultancies for various tourism bureaus. His passion is travel and he enjoys sharing his experiences and knowledge with others. For almost 20 years Ian has been a senior lecturer at the University of Technology, Sydney's Business School focusing on the marketing and management of tourism activities. Ian has visited New Zealand over twenty times over the past forty years, for both work and pleasure. 

Special Interest Lecturer: Maritime and Australian History

Warwick David Abadee (Cremorne, Australia)
Warwick Abadee was born and has always lived in Sydney, Australia. He has travelled extensively throughout Australia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia largely due to his successful 30 years' high level international maritime career. He achieved Chief Executive and Board status with two of the world's largest shipping conglomerates' Australasian Head Offices; Royal Dutch NEDLLOYD and ZIM Israel Navigation. Following retirement, he joined Sydney's world famous Australian National Maritime Museum in 1991 where he is Senior Historic Guide and its Founding Guest Speaker. Warwick is widely sought for speaking at prominent Museums, Universities, major companies such as Qantas and eminent historic organizations among others. Warwick has lectured on many cruises and has had numerous articles published on his topics. He is closely involved with various leading community organizations including, currently, as Immediate Past President of an iconic Australian Ex-Military Association, plus Chair of a major Sydney entity allied to the Royal Australian Navy's International Fleet Review world event in October, 2013.

Special Interest Lecturer

General Victor E. "Gene" Renuart, Jr., USAF (Ret) (Colorado Springs, CO)
General Renuart’s Air Force career culminated as Commander, NORAD and US Northern Command after nearly 39 years of distinguished service. In this last position he was responsible for providing for the Homeland Defense and Defense Support to Civilian Authorities for the United States and for partnering with Canada and Mexico in broader security issues for North America. He was also responsible for building the interagency cooperation necessary for DoD to partner successfully to support of over 55 government partners and 53 States, Districts, and Territories.

From 2003 to 2007, General Renuart served as Vice Commander, Pacific Air Forces, and as the Director of Strategy, Policy and Planning (J-5) for the Joint Staff and finally, as Senior Military Assistant to both SECDEFs Rumsfeld and Gates. In these roles he developed policy and strategy positions adopted by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Secretary and in many cases, other Departments of Government and the White House.

Since retiring, General Renuart has served as the Senior Military Advisor and Vice President, National Security Strategy, BAE Systems, Inc; founded his own consulting group; and more recently joined ODG, a Washington, D.C. based consulting firm.

General Renuart serves both locally and nationally as a Member of the Board, Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, the Chairman of the Board of the National Homeland Defense Foundation , as a Trustee for the El Pomar Foundation, a member of the Board, Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, and serves as National Chairman of the Advisory Board on Services to the Armed Forces, American Red Cross. He is also an Advisor to the CEO, Bryan Construction and a Strategic Advisor to Sturman Industries, an innovative technology company involved in energy production and engine development. Finally, General serves as a member of Governor Hickenlooper’s Colorado National Defense Strategy Council and Governor Daniel’s Indiana State Energy Systems Network.

Want to take your home movies to the next level? Post your mini-blockbusters or vacation videos to Facebook or YouTube? In five fun classes, learn how to shoot and edit short movies using an iPad. Improve your video and photo skills. The course is taught by professionals, but aimed at non-professionals.
Course requirements: please bring your own iPad and pre-load the iMovie application prior to boarding. If you do not already own the iMovie app for iOS, you must have iOS6 in order to purchase and download iMovie ($4.99) from the App Store. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Due to the hands-on nature of this unique program, class size is limited to 20 participants. Please sign up online using Priority Check-in & Planning Center (PCPC).
