Richard Morgan (Sarasota, FL)
Richard Morgan is a retired Federal executive level official with 31 years of government service, including 25 years for the Panama Canal Commission. He managed a large bureau responsible for all agency logistical, physical security, procurement and contracting, and land-based support activities of the Canal, and was a key player in planning and implementing the 1977 Panama Canal Treaty by which the Canal Zone was abolished in 1979 and the Canal itself was transferred to Panama at the end of 1999. His experience is first hand and personal, and he is a popular speaker on the Canal subject.
Jon Bailey (Walnut Creek, CA)
Jon Bailey is well-known as a conductor, composer and teacher in the field of music, art and architecture. He holds degrees in music from Northwestern, UC Berkeley, and a doctorate from Stanford University. He was dean and professor of music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music prior to teaching in the Yale School of Music. Jon is professor emeritus at Pomona College in Claremont, CA where twice he won the coveted ‘outstanding teacher of the year.’ In addition he teaches at the prestigious Fromm Institute for Lifelong Learning at the University of San Francisco. He has been a program consultant for National Public Radio, and was an Arts Commissioner with the city of West Hollywood, CA. A recipient of two Fulbright research grants, he has traveled and studied in Europe and Australia. Jon has performed as a conductor and composer in Myerson Symphony Center, Dallas, Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall and Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, Tchaikovsky Hall, Moscow and the Glinka Kappella in St. Petersburg. He has taken his collegiate and community choruses on tours to Europe, the Baltic Republics and Russia and has produced numerous CDs.
Bill Rothschild (Houston, TX)
Bill Rothschild is your proverbial rocket scientist. He retired as Boeing’s Director of Engineering Operations for the Space Exploration Division in Houston, TX after 43 years in the aerospace industry. Bill is currently working as a consultant for both NASA and the U.S. Air Force in addition to lecturing to a wide range of audiences. Listen to Bill’s down to earth descriptions and his tantalizing insider stories about the real moon race, what’s happening in space now, and an intriguing look into the future for this greatest of all adventures - the human exploration of space.

Robert Smolik is a U.S. diplomat expert in Europe and Africa. Since 1979, during his first posting in Paris, he has worked on NATO and EU security and economic issues. Since 2005 his multiple speaking tours for the State Department have taken him to 26 countries throughout Africa, working with African civil society on good governance. Currently he is senior area advisor for Europe at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations for the 62nd, 63rd, 64th, and 65th UN General Assemblies, 2007-2010.
In addition to his African speaking engagements and workshops, he teaches courses on transatlantic trade and finance as well as on UN and NATO security issues. He has served as Political Advisor to the Commander of U.S. naval forces in Europe in London, and in Germany as advisor to the Commander of U.S. Army in Europe. As a Distinguished Speaker for Africa Regional Services in Paris (2002-2005), he worked with a dozen African governments in their struggle against corruption and terrorist financing.
Previously he served as Economic Minister-Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Canada, and as Economic Minister-Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, where he managed economic, commercial, and financial exchanges with Italy. In the State Department he has twice served as Deputy Director, for Western European nations and for NATO affairs.

The relaxing and social aspects of knitting have been added on select cruises. On this sailing, Jill Treadwell (Olivenhain, CA) will host knitting classes and all levels are welcome. Participants are encouraged to knit together sharing skills and advice in a congenial environment. Participation is limited.

Want to take your home movies to the next level and learn how to share them with family and friends? In five entertaining classes, learn how to shoot and edit short movies using an iPad. Improve your video and photo skills. The course is taught by professionals, but aimed at non-professionals.
Course requirements: please bring your own iPad pre-loaded with the iMovie application. If you do not already own the iMovie for iOS app, you must have iOS7 in order to download iMovie from the App Store. If you have an older version of the iMovie app, be sure to update to the current version. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Please sign up online using the Priority Check-in & Planning Center (PCPC). If you sign up on board, make sure to sign up EARLY, in the Library, as the class size is limited.
