Michael Smith (Kent, England)
Michael Smith is Professor at the University of Kent, Director of the Centre for Astrophysics and Planetary Science and Director of the Kent Space School. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a member of the International Astronomical Union. He studied at Imperial College, London, and Magdalen College, Oxford. He has written two books, over 200 scientific papers and is Editor-in-Chief of an international journal. He has contributed to television, radio and newspapers, acted as expert witness, and held many public speaking engagements.

Charles Carlton (Beaufort, NC)
No one can explain the British royal family and its checkered history better than Charles Carlton. A native of England, who has lived in the United States for nearly forty years; he is a retired Professor of British History at North Carolina State University and has been a Visiting Professor of Military History at Duke. Dr. Carlton is the author of some twelve books, as well as numerous articles, reviews and pieces in newspapers including the London Sunday Times and the Boston Globe. His books on Royal Mistresses, Royal Childhoods, and Royal Warriors, as well as his biography of King Charles I, have established him as a leading authority in the field. Professor Carlton can bridge the gap between academia and general audiences. For instance, the BBC turned his award winning study “Going to the Wars: the Experience of the British Civil Wars, 1638-52” into a well-received television documentary. He has been a visiting professor at universities in China, India, Scotland, and Australia. Over the last twenty five years, he has lectured extensively to English Speaking Union Groups throughout the United States, and throughout the world. Graced with wit and humor, deep learning and style, Charles Carlton's lectures provided an entertaining yet thoughtful understanding of the ever fascinating topic of the British Royal family in particular and Monarchies in general.

Dr. Jay Christofferson (Napa, CA)
Dr. Jay P. Christofferson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from the University of Utah in 1961, a master’s degree in 1964 and Ph.D. in 1970 in zoology from the University of Hawaii. He was employed at California State University, Stanislaus (CSUS) from 1970 to 1996, where he was promoted from assistant professor to professor. He served as the biology department chairman for three years, associate dean of the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences (ALS) for four years and the interim dean of the College of ALS for two years. He left CSUS to become the dean of the School of Science and Natural Resources at Lake Superior State University, where he served until accepting the position of vice president, academic affairs at the California Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University system. He retired from this position June 30, 2004.
Michael Freedland (Bournemouth, England)
Michael Freedland says he is more of a storyteller than a lecturer. His usual style is to sit on a stool and talk. Michael is a journalist, broadcaster and author, his most recent work being a new biography of Judy Garland. It will be his third book in the past several months following his study of the Hollywood moguls, The Men Who Made Hollywood, which came after his assessment of McCarthyism in the film industry, Witch-Hunt in Hollywood, all subjects of talks on this voyage . His other books include biographies of Al Jolson (which became the West End hit show Jolson; Olivier Award 1997), Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, Leonard Bernstein and Irving Berlin. Michael is a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio Two. Recent series include Hollywood On Trial, Hollywood at War and The Frank Sinatra Trial, The Bing Crosby Trial, The Bob Hope Trial and The Judy Garland Trial. His most recent series was The Elvis Presley Trial. Also, he is about to start work on a joint program with his son Jonathan for Radio Four. He has also made numerous television programs. He says he is essentially a journalist whose work has appeared in newspapers on both sides of the Atlantic, notably The Guardian, The Independent and The Times, for which he still writes regularly.
Dr. John McMichan (Scottsdale, AZ)
Born in Melbourne, Australia, John McMichan obtained his medical education at Monash University and then spent time in Surgery and Surgical Research at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. After a period as a Ship's Surgeon, John with his wife Jan, moved to Rochester, MN where he joined the staff of the Mayo Clinic specializing in Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology and Medical Education. Because of their love of passenger ships, John and Jan have taken many cruises to all parts of the world and now, as John has retired from clinical practice, he is a frequent lecturer at sea discussing a variety of medical topics in a light and informative manner and providing take-home messages for better health and longer life.
Robert Schrire (Cape Town, South Africa)
Robert Schrire was, until recently, chair and professor in the politics department at the University of Cape Town and the Director of the Institute for the Study of Public Policy. He also teaches at Princeton University. His presentations look at how our world is being impacted by changes in politics, religion, technology, economics, and population. Robert is best known as the original host of the television program Talking Politics and he had a regular column in The Sunday Times for several years. Much in demand as a public commentator, his views have been published in Time, Newsweek, The Economist, and The Washington Post. The BBC's chief analyst during South Africa's first democratic elections, he has worked closely with many prominent TV personalities including Ted Koppel and David Dimbleby. A consultant to UNESCO and the Rockefeller and Ford Foundations, Robert presents a highly-acclaimed series to CEOs of major corporations, entitled "Our Changing World: Thinking about the Future” and has led study tours for groups as diverse as the National Trust and Harvard and Stanford Universities. A graduate of the University of Cape Town, Robert pursued post-graduate studies at Columbia University and the School of International Service – American University in Washington, D.C., and holds a doctorate from the University of California.

Steve St. Peter has produced over 500 television commercials and in 2012, he was awarded Norway’s best television advertisement. He looks forward to the opportunity to share how ads are created, why they are popular or unpopular, and explore the socioeconomic and cultural forces at play from an idea’s conception to its 'ON THE AIR.' Steve lectures at the European Film College, Norway’s College of Film Studies, and the Advertisers Association of Norway.

If you do not already own the iMovie for iOS app, you must have iOS7 in order to download iMovie from the App Store. If you have an older version of the iMovie app, be sure to update to the current version. You cannot download the app on board the ship. Dina Michelle (Long Beach, CA)
Dina Michelle has a diverse career background. In addition to her life as a skincare and wellness therapist, she also actively works in the entertainment industry, as well as in event and travel management. Michelle has been practicing yoga and meditation for 25 years and is a licensed Aesthetician from the State of California. She has accumulated over 800 hours in training as a skincare and wellness therapist and serves as the national trainer for Farmaesthetics, an American herbal skincare and wellness focused company. She established Nest Spa in 2003 specializing in advanced skin care therapy and lifestyle counseling. Michelle has taught hundreds of therapists and corporate professionals at established spas and resorts such as Fred Segal Day Spa, Santa Monica, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel, Westlake Village, Pure Spa at The Hyatt, San Diego, Teton Mountain Lodge Spa, Jackson Hole and The Spa at The Peaks, Telluride. Her passion lies in guiding private clients and students just beginning their meditation practice. She continues to deepen her own yoga practice and study of meditation by taking ongoing classes and workshops. “Meditation as a practice, requires commitment of mind, body and spirit. Joe Herbert (Littleton, CO)
Joe Herbert has maintained membership in the PGA for over 35 years, as well as being Life Member and Quarter Century Club member. His experience includes being a Head Golf Professional/Golf Director at exclusive country clubs in Colorado. In addition, during the spring and summer months, he is the Director of Golf Instruction at Arrowhead Golf Club (Golf Digest Top 100 golf courses) in Littleton, CO. During the winter, Joe is the Director of Golf Instruction at the beautiful Classic Golf Club in Palm Springs, CA. Joe hosted the Bob Hope golf tournament from 2006 - 2009. Joe has been honored with the 1997 nomination for PGA Teaching Professional and Junior Golf Leader as well as the 2009/2010 President’s Council Award for Outstanding Golf Instructor of Developing Golf Instruction Programs. He has been featured in 2010 Style magazine during the U.S. Open, and Boomer Golf News for his outstanding teaching abilities. Joe has signed with Southwest Airlines and Swift Air for his golf instructions and DVDs while in the air on WIFI. Recently, due to the large number of requests from his students around the world, Joe released a DVD set, Fundamentals of Golf. Joe considers teaching golf to others to be one of the highlights of his life.
