Dr. Lawrence Blair (Bali, Indonesia)
Dr. Blair is the writer, presenter and co-producer (with his late brother) of the internationally acclaimed TV adventure series Ring of Fire, which won two EMMY awards. Its companion book, Ring of Fire, chronicles his and his brother’s astonishing ten years of exploring Indonesia, which included such real life adventures as sailing with gypsy pirates, visiting man-eating animals and men, and standing next to erupting volcanoes. His entire life has been extraordinary; as a diver in Mexico and Indonesia, a fisherman in Alaska, an actor, a model, a photographer and an interpreter. Lawrence Blair earned his doctorate at Lancaster University, England. His thesis, which defined the field of Psycho-Anthropology, was subsequently published as Rhythms of Vision: The Changing Patterns of Belief, now in its sixth edition.
Dr. John Renninger (New York, NY)
Dr. John Renninger is currently adjunct professor of global affairs at New York University. In 2007, Dr. Renninger retired from the United Nations after 30 years of service. Upon his retirement, he was a director in the Department of Political Affairs, where he was the highest ranking US national. He was responsible for monitoring political developments in various regions of the world and providing political advice to the Secretary-General.
Barbara Rinella (Kenilworth, IL)
Barbara Rinella, a former high school English teacher, has been celebrating literature with her dynamic presentations on current books for many years. A very popular lecturer on Crystal Cruises and throughout the United States, she calls her witty, first person renditions “academic entertainment,” encouraging her enthusiastic audiences to learn and laugh. Barbara graduated from Duke University and holds a graduate degree from the University of Michigan. She has taught high school English in Boston and at New Trier High School in Illinois. She has also served as an elected member of the New Trier School Board, is included in Who’s Who in America, and was honored as a “woman of Distinction” for her contributions to the World of the Arts by the Illinois Girl Scouts.
Heinz Von Holzen (Bali, Indonesia)
Heinz von Holzen planned a career in engineering and it was lack of apprentice positions that he decided to take up a chef apprenticeship instead. Heinz traveled and cooked through Europe, Asia and Australia before settling down in Bali where he opened the Ritz Carlton Bali as Executive Chef. Following this venture, he opened his own restaurant, Bumbu Bali Restaurant and Cooking School. Bumbu Bali is the only restaurant in Bali that serves thoroughly authentic Balinese cuisine in a beautiful, traditional setting.
Fongyee Walker and Edward Ragg
Fonyee Walker is mainland China's most qualified wine educator having passed her Master of Wine Theory and practical examinations. She is a leading WSET Certified Educator and Assessor teaching all over China. A WSET Level 4 Diploma holder and Associate of the Institute of Wines & Spirits, Fongyee also judges for leading Chinese magazines, Chinese wine challenges and serves as an international judge. Edward Ragg is the first foreigner to be appointed an Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures at Tsinghua University, where he teaches literature in English and has established the University's first wine course, as well as founding the Tsinghua University Wine Association (est., 2012). Edward is a WSET Level 4 Diploma holder and Associate of the Institute of Wine & Spirits (AIWS). He is a Certified WSET Assessor and also holds SWE and Court of Master Sommeliers qualifications. He is an experienced writer, published poet, literary critic, wine writer and guest international judge. Fongyee and Edward co-founded Dragon Phoenix Fine Wine Consulting, Beijing’s first and fully independent wine consulting and education service.
A veteran of over 15 years in the hospitality industry, Chris Hopkins has done it all. Beginning with a catering and event management company, learning all there is to know about banquets and special events, to running beverage programs in Las Vegas’ most prestigious resorts, Chris has been involved in every facet of the industry. After leaving his position of AGM of the award winning bar, The Paddington Ale House, in his hometown of Perth, Western Australia, he began his international career with the largest operator of public houses in the world, Bass Breweries in London, 2000. A change in the bar scene in London inspired his next move into the cocktail world with The White House, the first private members lounge/restaurant/nightclub concept outside of Central London. Rising to AGM and overseeing the entire bar and beverage program during his tenure allowed the next move to work for the global leader in boutique hotel and bar concepts, Soho House Group, where he helped with the opening of two venues and assisted in the execution of their annual 'Pop Up' Soho House at Cannes and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
A life across 'The Pond' beckoned and at the end of 2004, Chris moved to the hot bed of cocktails that is San Francisco. As the burgeoning cocktail scene developed, he worked at the renowned Range Restaurant and Tres Agave. The bright lights of Las Vegas came calling and in 2009 he moved into the hotel side of the business at the Trump Hotel. When The Cosmopolitan Hotel opened in 2010, he began as an opening team member of the often nominated Vesper Crew and started competing on the local and national competition circuit with multiple successes. A step from behind the bar and back into management as the GM of Vesper and Property Mixologist allowed Chris to continue as a leader of cocktail programming in Las Vegas as well as consultancy work for Crown casino resorts in both Melbourne and Perth.
His most recent role was Corporate Mixologist for Wynn Resorts, Las Vegas involving the development, implementation and training for 27 different bars, restaurants, pools and banquet events with a bar team of over 200 bartenders and apprentices. In addition to this role, he is the current Vice President of the Las Vegas USBG Chapter leading the2nd largest chapter in the country and coordinating the execution of 2-3 events a month and mentoring the next generation of up and coming bartenders across the city. He is currently the founder of Cocktail Roadshow, a global hospitality consultancy company specializing in beverage development, training and event management for liquor and hospitality companies of all sizes.

Course requirements: please bring your own iPad pre-loaded with the iMovie application. If you do not already own the iMovie for iOS app, you must have iOS8 in order to download iMovie from the App Store. If you have an older version of the iMovie app, be sure to update to the current version. You cannot download the app on board the ship. John was named the Scottish Wedding Photographer of the Year, Scottish Portrait Photographer of the Year and British Fashion Photographer of the Year. Bruce Murray has been a C.P.G.A. member for over 40 years serving the C.P.G.A. as a Director, as well as serving as chairman of many association portfolios. He has been a Head Professional/Director of Golf at five clubs in his career the most prominent being Royal Montréal, Shaughnessy in Vancouver and now Wildfire in Lakefield, Ontario. Bruce's responsibilities have varied within the scope of the various clubs, but teaching has been and remains his main passion. He has taught students of every level, from novices to professionals and leading amateurs. Bruce is now retired from the private club life and lives outside Halifax, Nova Scotia.
